The English Football League returns this weekend and along with it we’re reviving one of our most popular features from last season.

Once again, FST’s trio of football experts will team up with some of the top tipsters from Racing Post to pick out the very best value from Saturday’s fixtures and build a massive 35/1 Experts’ Acca.

This week it’s the turn of James Milton, Liam Flin and Henry Hardwicke to join the FST team of Alex Wrigley, Aaron Rogan and Gareth Freeman.

Leicester vs Man City – Leicester double chance at 5/6

Manchester City may be favourites but the Premier League champions are without a host of their star players after their European Championship and Copa American campaigns.

The Citizens lost three of their final five games last season and three of the last four Community Shield fixtures have been level after 90 minutes, so a motivated Foxes could push City to the very end.

Derby vs Huddersfield – Huddersfield to win at 8/11

Derby’s off-field issues have resulted in their squad being pulled apart without adequate replacements. The Rams had already lost six of their final seven games last term and finished 21st in the table, so it’s little shock that they’re relegation favourites this time around.

Things aren’t looking great for Huddersfield either, but they should take this opportunity to down a Derby side who lost 24 of 46 matches with a stronger squad last season. Wayne Rooney has yet to convince as a manager but he can’t exactly be judged here given the lack of resources he’s competing with. Despite that, the Terriers are a solid price to add to Derby’s woes.

Rotherham vs Plymouth – Rotherham to win at 4/5

Rotherham are back in League One after dropping out of the Championship but have largely managed to keep their squad intact and are likely to be there or thereabouts in the promotion fight.

A home game against Plymouth looks like an ideal start for the Millers. Argyle were terrible travellers last year – they managed just three wins in 23 games – and anything other than a home win would be a surprise here.

Queen of South vs Kilmarnock – Kilmarnock to win at 10/11

Kilmarnock are by far the strongest side in the Scottish Championship, but the market still looks to be underplaying their dominance. Killie kicked the season off with a 2-0 win in the Ayrshire derby, where they won the shot count 14-4, the corner count 12-3 and dominated possession.

Queen of the South played fairly well in an 3-2 opening day defeat at Partick, but the even-money on offer about Tommy Wright’s side looks a gift.

QPR vs Millwall – QPR to win at 11/10

QPR surged into the top ten of last season’s Championship thanks to an ultra-consistent run after the turn of the year and Mark Warburton’s men can make a winning start to their 2021-22 campaign.

The Hoops have signed striker Charlie Austin on a permanent basis and brought in classy midfielders Andre Dozzell and Stefan Johansen in the summer.

QPR won eight of their last 11 home matches last term and can extend that run against a Millwall side thumped 6-1 at Coventry on the final day.

Ipswich vs Morecambe – Ipswich to win at 8/13

There is plenty of hype surrounding Ipswich this season and rightly so – Rekeem Harper, Lee Evans and Joe Pigott are brilliant additions while manager Paul Cook knows how to gain promotion in the EFL.

And the Tractor Boys should start with victory over Morecambe, who defied expectations to move out of League Two last season but they have since changed manager and lost last term’s top goalscorer Carlos Mendes Gomes. They are worth opposing at Portman Road.
