Royal Ascot is one of the highlights of this summer of sport, with some high-profile races to enjoy over the next few days. Given that, we’re looking to cover all angles at the festival.
We’ve called in help from the Racing Post for our daily Royal Ascot tips, with the best bets for the opening day listed below courtesy of Robbie Wilders. Throughout the festival we’ll also have the latest free bets and special offers.
Royal Ascot Day 4 Super Mega Acca
2.30 Albany Stakes
Experts’ Best Bet: Navassa Island at 6/1
Unlucky not to win a Group 3 on her debut having been denied a clear run. Arguably the form pick and can build on that for a trainer who knows the time of day with juveniles.
3.05 Commonwealth Cup
Experts’ Best Bet: Ocean Quest at 16/1
Undone by her draw in the Lacken Stakes last time and should have won. Unexposed, improving sprinter and goes on any ground. Can handle this step up in class.
3.40 Duke of Edinburgh Stakes
Experts’ Best Bet: Nagano at 10/1
Off the track for 22 months, but progressive at three, has good course form and significant that top connections are persevering with him.
4.20 Coronation Stakes
Experts’ Best Bet: Tahiyra at 4/7
Task made easier by omission of Mawj and clearly the best horse in this field. Can maintain unbeaten streak over old foe Meditate.
5.00 Sandringham Stakes
Experts’ Best Bet: Jackie Oh at 6/1
Plenty of pace on the stands’ side and this highly rated hold-up performer, who drops into handicap company after running in a Classic, should be arriving late and fast.
5.35 King Edward VII Stakes
Experts’ Best Bet: Artistic Star at 7/1
Shuffled back at a crucial stage in the Derby and made decent late gains. A chance the favourite bounces after a tough race at Epsom, and this colt is clearly well above average.
6.10 Palace of Holyroodhouse Stakes
Experts’ Best Bet:: Jerr Batt at 14/1
Stands’ side rail might be the place to be here and booking of Colin Keane is eyecatching. Wide draw cost him at Chester last time and a sprinter on the up.
