Another season of EFL football is on the horizon as 24 teams battle it out for one of the biggest prizes in English football – The chance to compete in the lucrative top flight of the game. Norwich City romped to the title last season and were followed by the unlikely Sheffield United, while Aston Villa joined them in the big time thanks to their playoff win.

Defeated playoff sides Leeds, West Brom, and Derby will be getting over their disappointment and ready to have another crack at things this term, while the likes of Huddersfield, Fulham, and Cardiff will be keen to bounce straight back up to the Premier League.

Rotherham, Bolton, and Ipswich were the three unfortunate casualties of Championship relegation last term, making way for the promoted trio of Luton, Barnsley, and Charlton. All three of those face an uphill battle to remain in the second flight, but the likes of Reading and Millwall certainly weren’t far off demotion last term.

Last season’s top goalscorer Teemu Pukki led Norwich into the top flight with his 29 goal haul, while on loan striker Tammy Abraham will also ply his trade in the Premier League next term. Neal Maupay also hit 25 goals and has attracted the attention of top flight clubs, so it’s clear that netting a hatful in the second tier is a fast-track way to a pay rise for a striker.

Who will take the award in the coming season? Aleksandar Mitrovic is the favourite as Fulham search for an instant promotion, while Neal Maupay, Patrick Bamford, Karlan Ahearne-Grant, Kemar Roofe, and Oliver McBurnie are all in the running too.

Manchester City go on the hunt for a third successive title, but can Liverpool compete at the same level again? Meanwhile, the race for the top four takes a twist thanks to Chelsea’s transfer ban and Manchester United’s tumultuous squad.

At the other end of the table, Brighton, Newcastle, and Burnley are all expecting a tough season, but will be hoping the newly promoted clubs take some time to adapt to the higher level of football.

As you will have seen in our Premier League Outright Betting Tips Review, we landed an impressive five out of six tips in these categories last season!

Liverpool duo Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah shared the Golden Boot award alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last season, with all three of them bagging 22 league goals. The rest of the top goalscorer table was full of unsurprising and familiar names, with Sergio Aguero coming 4th and being followed by Jamie Vardy, Harry Kane, and Raheem Sterling.

Last season we tipped Aubameyang to take the top scorer award, and as such landed it at 1/3 price due to him sharing the award. We hit the post with our other choices, with Harry Kane enduring an injury hit season and Raheem Sterling coming close to landing our eachway selection with 17 goals.

Celtic claimed a ridiculous 8th consecutive title in the Scottish Premiership last season, but they were pushed hard at times by Rangers and Steven Gerrard’s side will be hoping to put a dent in their title aspirations when they meet for the first time at the start of September.

Meanwhile, Ross County will be hoping to build on their promotion and stay in the top flight and Alfredo Morelos will try to avoid suspension for long enough to retain his Golden Boot award.

Sun 28th July – Eredivisie Outright Tips and Predictions

Ajax’s young guns ended a run of four years without the Eredivisie title last season while also making a deep Champions League run. However, their squad is slowly being dismantled, which is something that the likes of PSV and Feyenoord will be hoping to take advantage of.

At the other end of the table, FC Twente, RKC Waalwijk, and Sparta Rotterdam will try to avoid dropping down the ranks. Top scorer Luuk de Jong has been snatched up by Sevilla over the summer, but Dusan Tadic remains at Ajax and will fight the likes of Hirving Lozano and Adrian Dalmau for the top scorer award.

Lincoln City stormed to the title last season, and this term it will be the relegated quartet of Plymouth, Walsall, Scunthorpe, and Bradford City hoping for a quick return to League One. Most exciting, however, is Salford City’s entrance into the Football League for the first time in their history, and they will no doubt be looking at more than just a fight for survival.

Are we in for another season of absurd dominance from the heavily backed PSG, who won their 6th Ligue 1 title in 7 years by a margin of 16 points last season? Well, probably, but Lille, Lyon, St Etienne, and Marseille will all battle for the Champions League qualification spots, while Monaco will also be hoping for a return to their former glory after a dreadful showing last year.

Metz and Stade Brestois 29 will be desperately trying to avoid an instant relegation, with Dijon, Toulouse, and Amiens all striving for much needed improvement this term.

Borussia Dortmund came close to ending Bayern Munich’s recent dominance of the Bundesliga last season, but ultimately fell two points short and handed Bayern their 7th league title in a row. At the other end, Koln, Paderborn, and Union Berlin are the newcomers to the top flight, while Schalke look for vast improvement after their domestic underperformance last term.

Barcelona romped home to another La Liga title last season, taking full advantage of Real Madrid’s cataclysmic form under Julen Lopetegui and without Cristiano Ronaldo to save them. However, Zinedine Zidane is back in the hot seat and Eden Hazard is hoping to fill the gaping void left by the great Ronaldo, so we could have a classic battle on our hands.

Sun 4th August – Portuguese Primeira Liga Outright Betting Tips and Predictions

After missing out on the title in 2017/18, Benfica claimed their 5th Portuguese Primeira Liga in 6 years last term as they beat defending champions Porto by just two points. The big story at the other end of the table concerns Gil Vicente, who were demoted back in 2006 due to apparent misuse of a player. That decision has been overturned and has sent them back to the top flight, but they spent last term in the third tier and simply don’t have a strong enough squad to compete.

Another year, another indomitable performance from Juventus which saw them collect their 8th straight Serie A title. Can anybody stop them this season? Well, Antonio Conte isn’t a stranger to making vast improvements in his first season with a club, and Napoli continue to look like one of the stronger challengers to the throne.

Meanwhile, Breschia, Lecce, and Hellas Verona will hope to make good on their promotion last term, while Cristiano Ronaldo will be striving for a Golden Boot after ‘only’ scoring 21 league goals last season.
