QPR vs Watford – Wednesday, January 1st
Watford finished 2024 with each of their final four games finishing 2-1, brining two wins and two defeats. The Hornets have struggled on their travels this season, but they head to a QPR side who ship 1.4 goals per game at home.
Watford have conceded 23 times across their 11 trips this season, but they do average more than a goal per game on their travels. QPR have won each of their previous three at home – scoring at least twice in each – so expect some goals in Wednesday’s early kick-off.

Cambridge United vs Reading – Wednesday, January 1st
Third-bottom Cambridge face a difficult start to 2025, as they host sixth-placed Reading. The visitors have won all six encounters with the bottom seven, including a 3-0 victory when these two last met.
The Royals do have some defensive issues on the road, while their previous four matches have featured a total of 13 goals. The hosts have mustered 1.3 goals per home game, but they’ve conceded twice in five of their previous six, including that heavy loss to Reading.

St Johnstone vs Hibernian – Thursday, January 2nd
Hibs continued their fine run at the end of 2024 with a 1-0 victory against Kilmarnock, having beaten rivals Hearts on Boxing Day. The Easter Road side have now won three on the spin, netting nine goals along the way.
Things are much bleaker for St Johnstone, who have been beaten in each of their previous four. Over 2.5 goals has landed in each of those defeats and that should continue against the in-form visitors, who are quickly pushing into the top-half of the table.

Dundee vs Dundee United – Thursday, January 2nd
While Dundee United have put together a string of low-scoring games at home, their record on the road is a different story. The Tangerines meet their local rivals on Thursday, with eight of their previous 11 trips seeing both teams score.
Dundee United won 2-1 at St Johnstone in their last away trip, while they were beaten 4-3 at Motherwell last month. Meanwhile, Dundee’s previous 12 home matches have featured at least three goals. Given that the reverse fixture finished 2-2 back in August, Thursday evening’s game looks good for entertainment.

Rodez Aveyron vs Red Star – Friday, January 3rd
Ligue 2 returns to action on Friday night and this clash is the go-to game for goals, as two of the three worst defences in the division meet. The pair have conceded 26 and 28 times respectively across 16 matches, while neither side is struggling to produce at the other end.
Rodez have conceded 13 times across their seven home matches, while Red Star have let in 16 goals across their eight away games. Given that the home side rank second in terms of goals scored, back more goals when the pair return to action.

Airdrieonians vs Falkirk – Friday, January 3rd
Friday night’s Scottish Championship clash pits bottom against top, with hosts Airdrie losing 10 of their last 12. While the hosts are underdogs, they are meeting Falkirk at a good time. The visitors have lost 5-2 at Ayr and drawn 3-3 at Dunfermline across their previous two trips.
14 of the 17 goals Falkirk have conceded have come on the road, including those eight across their previous two games. However, their scoring record on the road is fine, having netted at least twice in all five trips to the bottom four.
