Golf tips: Made in Himmerland predictions

Born in the south east of Ireland, Simon put his life-long love of football to good use when he started a successful independent blog in 2010. That opened up an alternative route to a career in journalism, and having had work published across a number of sites and publications, Simon joined the staff at Spotlight Sports Group in 2018.

The European Tour head to Denmark this week where a 156-strong field will compete for glory at the Made in Himmerland in Farso, and we’ve got free betting tips and predictions for the tournament below!

Robert MacIntyre is the market favourite before tee off, though two alternatives at more attractive prices could be worth following instead. Keep scrolling to read our Made in Himmerland predictions now!

Made in Himmerland betting tips and predictions

Robert MacIntyre is favourite for another European Tour event, but the Scotsman has never won a conventional 72-hole strokeplay contest on any of the main tours, and he makes no appeal at short prices for the Made in HimmerLand.

MacIntyre disappointed as market leader in the British Masters earlier this month, then he finished 49th in the US PGA Championship last week. The popular left-hander was runner-up in the last Made in Himmerland two years ago, but he seemed jaded at Kiawah Island on Sunday and may let down jolly backers this week.

Preference is for two players at much bigger prices – Julian Suri and Nicolai Hojgaard.

Made in Himmerland course guide and where to watch

Course: HimmerLand, Farso, Denmark

Par: 71

Field: 156

Where to watch: Live on Sky Sports Main Event and Golf from noon on Thursday

Time difference: Denmark is one hour ahead of the UK and Ireland

Made in Himmerland winner prediction: Julian Suri at 70/1

Suri won the 2017 Made in HimmerLand, carding a final-round 64 for a 19-under-par total and a four-shot victory. That effort was remarkable when you consider the American giant did not even have a European Tour card at the time.

He had been playing well on the Challenge Tour, but turned up for his HimmerLand debut lacking European Tour experience, announcing himself as a force with which to be reckoned.

Injury and illness has meant Suri has failed to train on since that breakthrough triumph, but at the age of 30 he has looked bright in his last two outings – 27th in the Canary Islands Championship and 21st in the British Masters.

Made in Himmerland alternative prediction: Nicolai Hojgaard at 60/1

Suri seems a threat again, while Hojgaard will be relishing an event in his home country this week. The Danish youngster has been swinging superbly in recent weeks, finishing seventh in the Austrian Open and fourth in the Canary Islands Championship, and it would certainly not be a shock should he shed his maiden tag at HimmerLand. Hojgaard won a Nordic Golf League event in his homeland in 2018 and the 20-year-old seems certain of a fantastic future.
