Golf tips: Wells Fargo Championship predictions
The PGA Tour heads to Charlotte, North Carolina this week, where a star-studded field will compete on the parkland course at Quail Hollow Club in the Wells Fargo Championship.
Max Homa beat Joel Dahmen by three shots to claim his maiden PGA Tour title when the tournament was last played in 2019, and below, we’ve got the lowdown on the latest iteration of the Championship along with betting tips for Wells Fargo.
Wells Fargo Championship betting tips and predictions
Justin Thomas and Jon Rahm head the market for the Wells Fargo Championship – and the American has a significant course-form edge over the Spaniard. Thomas won the 2017 US PGA Championship at the layout which hosts the Wells Fargo – Quail Hollow – while Rahm is making his tournament debut this week.
Thomas is a tempting option, given he was the best performer from tee to green in the Valspar Championship last week, and any improvement in his putting should result in him contending for more Quail Hollow glory on Sunday. At healthier odds, though, preference is for Viktor Hovland and Will Zalatoris – two Quail Hollow debutants who seem ideally equipped to make an impact.

Wells Fargo Championship winner prediction: Viktor Hovland at 20/1
Hovland appears to have arrived in peak form, having outscored everyone in the final round of the Valspar Championship, carding seven birdies in a brilliant 65 at a tough course. That Valspar third-place finish was his sixth top-six since he won the Mayakoba Classic just before Christmas.
Hovland is fourth on the PGA Tour statistics for strokes-gained-off-the-tee – he has quickly established himself as one of the best drivers in the world – and that skill stands him in excellent stead at Quail Hollow. The Norwegian has been a professional for less than two years, but could be set to claim a third Tour title.
Wells Fargo Championship outsider prediction: Will Zalatoris at 28/1
Zalatoris went to Wake Forest University, which is not far from Quail Hollow, so he will feel comfortable for his first Wells Fargo. This rock-solid tee-to-green operator showcased his talents in the Masters last month, finishing runner-up on his Augusta debut, and a PGA Tour breakthrough seems inevitable at some stage.
Zalatoris has bought a house and got engaged since his last Tour appearance – the 24-year-old has taken his game and his life to a new level.
