The first Grand Slam event of the year gets underway at the weekend as the biggest stars in tennis head to Melbourne for the Australian Open.

We called on Racing Post tennis tipsters Aaron Ashley and Liam Flinn for their predictions for the year ahead and together they’ve combined for this 175/1 four-fold covering all four majors, with two men’s winners and two women’s.

175/1 Grand Slam Accumulator Tip

Aryna Sabalenka to win Women’s Australian Open – 9/4

Aryna Sabalenka is a comfortable favourite to win this year’s Women’s Australian Open and it is hard to argue with that logic.

Sabalenka dominated the hard courts on the WTA tour last year, winning 40 of her 49 matches on the surface, and she claimed both the Australian Open and US Open titles.

She can be devastating in Melbourne, winning 27 of her last 28 matches at the Grand Slam in the last three seasons and she is undoubtedly the woman to beat down under.

Iga Swiatek to win Women’s French Open – 4/7

While Sabalenka took the initiative on the hard courts last season, Iga Swiatek remains the undisputed queen of clay on the WTA tour.

The Pole has won the title at Roland Garros three seasons running as well as in 2020 and she has lost just twice in 37 matches at the clay-court Grand Slam.

Her powers may have waned elsewhere but Swiatek can boast an 89 per cent win record on the slower surface on tour since she came onto the scene in 2019 and she is a solid accumulator selection.

Carlos Alcaraz to win Men’s Wimbledon – 13/10

Last season’s ATP Tour was pretty much dominated by Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, who each won two of the four Grand Slam titles, and between them it should be another stellar year.

Alcaraz reigned supreme at Wimbledon, making it back-to-back titles at the All England Club, and Novak Djokovic’s obvious decline at 37 years of age makes the Spaniard a worthy favourite to rack up the hat-trick.

The 21-year-old is already a four-time Grand Slam champion and he has looked a complete natural on Wimbledon’s hallowed turf, unlike chief rival Sinner who was beaten in a five-set epic at the quarter-final stage of last season’s event by Daniil Medvedev.

Daniil Medvedev to win Men’s US Open – 14/1

At the back end of a gruelling season, the US Open can sometimes throw up strange results and there are often surprises before the September silverware is eventually secured.

It could, therefore, be worth going against the head of the market and hard-court specialist Daniil Medvedev ticks plenty of boxes at a nice price.

The Russian may need Sinner and Alcaraz to falter but he has made six Grand Slam finals on a hard court, which includes taking this prize in 2021, and there are very few that can handle these quick conditions as well as he can.
