Huge 6,485/1 golf double for the AT&T Byron Nelson & Soudal Open

There is plenty more golfing action to take in on both sides of the pond this week with the PGA Tour stopping off at TPC Craig Ranch in Texas for the AT&T Byron Nelson, an event that world number two Scottie Scheffler is the firm favourite to win following the withdrawal of Jordan Spieth due to a wrist injury.

On the other side of the Atlantic, the DP World Tour heads to Antwerp, Belgium for the second edition of the Soudal Open at Rinkven International Golf Club and there is sure to be thrills and spills throughout the week at a course that demands sharp iron play and a strong putter.

Racing Post golf tipster James Mason has had an in-depth look at both tournaments and produced an each-way double which pays out at a mighty 6,485/1 with bet365. Best must be placed by 5am on Thursday.

All prices quoted come from bet365, where new customers can can claim £30 in free bets by placing a £10 bet via the link below.

6,485/1 Each-Way Golf Double

AT&T Byron Nelson each-way prediction

While it’s easy to see why Scheffler is the favourite to claim the spoils, there is the feeling the majority of his focus will be on next week’s US PGA Championship and I think the 7/2 on him to triumph in Texas is far too short. There looks to be more value further down the betting and the nod here goes to Tom Hoge.

South Korean Lee Kyoung-hoon has won both editions of the Byron Nelson since it moved to TPC Craig Ranch in 2021 and it’s notable he ranked high in greens in regulation and putting in those two victories. With that in mind, Hoge makes huge appeal to enjoy a strong showing given the fact he is first in strokes gained: approach, 15th in greens in regulation and 11th in putting average this season.

The American also finished 17th here last year, a massive improvement from the missed cut in 2021, and he should have no problems if the wind decides to kick up in Texas as his sole PGA Tour title came at Pebble Beach – a course known for having strong gusts.

Soudal Open each-way prediction

There are some big prices available for the Soudal Open and I think there could be some value in siding with Spaniard Alejandro Canizares to end his long wait for a third DP World Tour title.

It has been just over nine years since the 40-year-old last tasted success but that could all be about to change this week, as he heads to Belgium in decent form with back-to-back top-25 finishes.

As mentioned earlier, sharp irons and a red-hot putter are two areas that need to be on point and Canizares certainly fits the bill here. He is 10th in strokes gained: approach and third in putting this season, so there is every chance he can put in a strong showing and get back into the winners’ circle.
