At Saturday lunchtime, in the Premier League’s early kick-off, Newcastle will attempt to beat back the relentless rolling waves of Liverpool attacks at Anfield, in a contest that has the look of a potential Merseyside mauling.
This Newcastle team shouldn’t be underestimated however, and the Magpies already showed in their early-season victory at Tottenham that they have the tools at their disposal to frustrate stronger opponents.
Saturday’s face-off looks set to be an enthralling contest between two teams with markedly different approaches, and that in turn opens up a wide range of betting options and markets to explore for the game.
Over at bet365, their superb Bet Builder service allows you to combine many of those markets to create a unique bet, and we’ve picked out a range of selections from Saturday’s tussle between Liverpool and Newcastle that we think are well worth considering for your bet slip this week.

Liverpool vs Newcastle Bet Builder Tips
Mohamed Salah to score anytime
With three goals in four appearances, prolific Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah is already out on his own as Liverpool’s top scorer in the Premier League this season, and the 27-year old will back himself to add to his early tally against Newcastle on Saturday.
Salah absolutely loves playing against the Magpies and the devastatingly potent wide-attacker scored once in each of Liverpool’s last three meetings with Newcastle in the Premier League.
Salah, is of course, also Liverpool’s designated penalty taker, further increasing his chances of getting on the scoresheet this weekend.

Fabian Schar to get booked
Swiss defender Fabian Schar was one of Newcastle’s most prolific hatchet men last season, picking up a shin-pad splintering 12 yellow cards in just 22 Premier League starts for the Magpies last term.
Remarkably, four games into the new season, Schar has yet to break his bookings duck for the campaign, though the stats suggest that his first yellow could be imminent.
Only Matt Ritchie (1.7) has committed more fouls per Premier League game on average at Newcastle than Schar (1.3) since the summer, and we think the 27-year old is a prime candidate to have his name taken on Saturday.
Schar was booked when Newcastle last played Liverpool in early May, and with his defensive workload expected to be extremely high this weekend, we’re tipping him to pick up another yellow when the teams’ renew acquaintances.

Under 3 cards in the match for both teams combined
Although we fully expect the referee to etch Fabian Schar’s name in his notebook on Saturday, we don’t envisage many other players having their details scribbled in beside the Swiss centre-halve’s.
Despite featuring in some keenly contested, attritional battles so far this season, Newcastle have averaged just two bookings per 90 minutes in the Premier League.
Liverpool have kept their noses even cleaner than that – only two of the Reds’ players (Fabinho and Trent Alexander-Arnold) have received Premier League cautions so far in 2019/20.
Last season, Newcastle developed a habit of maintaining their discipline in their toughest fixtures of the season. The Magpies averaged just 0.83 bookings in away fixtures against the Premier League’s top six last overall in 2018/19.
Liverpool half time/full time
Fresh from a club record 13th Premier League win in a row just before the international break, Liverpool are in the midst of a period of unprecedented domestic dominance right now.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have been trampling all over defences right from the first whistle in the majority of their matches, and Liverpool have been winning at both half time and full time in their last 7 Premier League fixtures.
That authoritative pattern is evident in Liverpool’s recent meetings with Newcastle too, and the Reds have been winning at half time and full time in each of their last three encounters with the Magpies. We expect that trend to continue this weekend.
Under 21.5 free kicks for both teams combined
Last season’s Premier League meetings between Liverpool produced nine goals, plenty of attacking play and a noticeably low foul count across both contests which undoubtedly helped the games to flow.
Just 15.5 fouls on average were committed by both teams combined in Liverpool’s Premier League head-to-heads with Newcastle in 2018/19, and we expect a similarly even-tempered game when they meet again on Saturday.
Interestingly, Newcastle rank second last in the Premier League for average fouls committed per game this season with 8.3. Only Leicester City have fouled their opponents less often on average than the Magpies.
For their part, Liverpool’s average fouls per game count is only slightly higher at 9.5, and the Reds ranked last for that metric for the entire 2018/19 Premier League season, making them, statistically at least, the cleanest side in the competition last term.
