Erling Haaland to score anytime
While City’s form remains shaky, Erling Haaland has been hard at work justifying his new contract. The forward has scored in each of City’s last two matches, while he has netted four times across City’s previous four Premier League outings.
The forward scored when these two sides met at Stamford Bridge in August, while he was on the scoresheet twice against them last season. Given his return of 13 goals from 13 appearances at the Etihad this season, back the forward to exploit a shaky Chelsea defence.
Jadon Sancho to make an assist
Jadon Sancho has faded into the background at Chelsea following the relentless pressure he suffered at Manchester United. The winger has enjoyed a quietly solid season, although his lack of end product has been criticised at points since his summer switch to London.
Sancho’s direct running and ability to beat his man were noted as the reasons Chelsea pursued the Old Trafford outcast. He’s certainly shown his ability to cause problems one-on-one this season, so he must be excited to take a run at makeshift right-back Matheus Nunes.
Sancho has a solid return of four assists this season but the winger can add to that given the joy PSG’s wingers had in midweek.
Moises Caicedo to commit 3+ fouls
Caicedo’s fit with Enzo Fernandez hasn’t always worked, but the Ecuadorian has been fantastic for Chelsea in his second campaign with the club. His importance has increased with Romeo Lavia ruled out, leaving Caicedo as the only midfielder capable of breaking up opposition attacks.
That role means Caicedo leads the way for Chelsea in terms of fouls by a huge distance. The midfielder has made 45 fouls this season in the Premier League – almost twice that of second-placed Fernandez (24). The midfielder has made three or more fouls in three of his last five appearances and his tricky visit to the Etihad should keep him busy.
Trevoh Chalobah to be fouled 1+ times
Chelsea’s defensive issues saw Trevoh Chalobah slot straight into the starting line-up for Monday’s win over Wolves following his recall from a loan at Crystal Palace. The defender had a goal poached from him by Noni Madueke, but he did manage to maintain an impressive run of winning fouls.
Chalobah has been fouled in 11 of his 15 appearances this term and he can expect to be pressed by City’s forward line. The defender was fouled three times when he faced City for Palace in December, so back him to be fouled at least once on Saturday.
