Month in Sport: Giant 391/1 acca covering Septembers biggest events
Content Editor at Free Super Tips, Alex was born in the shadow of Old Trafford and is an avid Man Utd fan. After graduating from university he combined his love of football, writing and betting to join FST and now closely follows goings-on in all of the top European leagues.
August saw the return of top-flight football across Europe along with plenty of other sporting action and, despite the early international break, there is plenty to look forward to in September.
The Champions League makes a return, but there is also the Ryder Cup later in the month, some British interest in boxing and the continuation of the Formula One season.
We’ve enlisted the help of experts in their chosen sporting field to give us a tip for all these huge events, which combine into a massive 391/1 acca!

Saturday, 9th September – Ukraine vs England
Joe Casey
England got the better of Ukraine 2-0 at Wembley back in March, part of the Three Lions perfect run at Euro 2024 qualifying which has seen them win all four qualifiers.
Gareth Southgate’s side have racked up an aggregate score of 15-1 across the four matches but they are facing a progressive Ukrainian side who could get on the scoresheet in this clash.
The Blue and Yellow have scored seven goals in three games since then, which includes wins over Malta and North Macedonia and a 3-3 draw with Germany.
England’s overall quality should tell but Ukraine could cause them more issues than they did at Wembley and are fancied to get on the scoresheet at least.
Best bet – England to win & BTTS at 12/5
Sunday, 17th September – Singapore Grand Prix
Alex Wrigley
Max Verstappen won his tenth-successive Grand Prix in Monza but teammate Sergio Perez also impressed and the Mexican’s affinity for street circuits makes him an attractive option around the Marina Bay Street Circuit
Perez won in Singapore last year and has recovered from a difficult spell recently, taking three podiums, including two second-place finishes, in his last four Grands Prix.
All five of his race victories with Red Bull have come at street circuits and Singapore is one of the few tracks Max Verstappen is yet to taste victory at. At 10/1 with each-way betting paying out 1/3 odds for second place, Perez is worth a punt to upset the apple cart.
Best bet – Sergio Perez each-way at 17/2
Tuesday, 19th September – Lazio vs Atletico Madrid
Aaron Rogan
Atletico Madrid had a horrible campaign in Europe last term, finishing bottom of a group which contained Porto, Club Brugge and Bayer Leverkusen. The Spanish side have lost six of their last 12 group stage games, while they’ve suffered five defeats in their last seven Champions League trips, losing each of the last four.
Lazio picked up an impressive 2-1 win at Napoli to start the month and Maurizio Sarri’s side were the closest side to the Partenopei in Serie A last term. The Italian league had three sides in the quarter-finals last term so a strong Lazio side look undervalued in this clash, especially with home advantage.
Best bet – Lazio to win at 2/1
Saturday, 23rd September – Zhilei Zhang vs Joe Joyce
Henry Hardwicke
Zhilei Zhang and Joe Joyce rematch after Zhang stunned the Juggernaut in April.
Joyce was the big ticket in that contest, but the Putney puncher was stopped in the sixth round and the chances of revenge look to be overplayed by the prices.
The Juggernaut is a physically gifted fighter, with a huge engine, but the 37-year-old is a one-dimensional boxer and it’s hard to see Joyce making the necessary adjustments at this stage of his career.
Best bet – Zhilei Zhang to win at 4/5
Friday, 29th September – Ryder Cup
Joe Champion
Europe suffered a 19-9 hammering at the hands of the USA at Whistling Straits in 2021 but Luke Donald’s big guns appear to be coming to the boil at just the right time to gain revenge in Rome at the end of the month.
Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm and Viktor Hovland are three of the four best golfers in the world at present while English trio Tommy Fleetwood, Matt Fitzpatrick and Tyrrell Hatton have posted some excellent results in recent tournaments.
US skipper Zach Johnson has had some selection dilemmas to contend with and while the holders have a lot of class in their ranks, it’s three decades since they won the Ryder Cup on European soil.
Best bet – Europe to win at 5/4
