Eight Premier League games take centre stage on Saturday and our tipsters have been delving into every possible betting angle. Gareth Freeman and Aaron Rogan have taken on the main markets in our Premier League predictions, while I have spent my time focusing on the more niche markets.

14 of the 16 most booked players in the top flight could be in action on Saturday and I have rounded up four of the most likely candidates to get in the referees’ bad books. Nottingham Forest vs Man City

Manchester City’s opponents have picked up a league-high 56 cards this season and Nottingham Forest are no strangers to getting on the bad side of the referee.

Forest’s right-back, most likely to be Serge Aurier, is the one to watch from a cards perspective in this game. He is expected to square up against Jack Grealish, who is fouled an average of 3.3 times per 90 minutes in the Premier League.

Aurier was booked in his last appearance against Fulham and is a key contender for another yellow card on Saturday, although if he doesn’t start I would be happy backing Neco Williams, too.

Best bet – Serge Aurier to be booked at 2/1

Brighton vs Fulham

Fulham have picked up more cards (55) than any other Premier League sides this season and midfielder Joao Palhinha has been responsible for eight of those bookings.

The 27-year-old Portugal international has been carded in three of his last six Premier League appearances and six of his eight bookings have come away from home.

On Saturday, he travels to a Brighton side who have seen their opponents carded 50 times this season, behind only Manchester City, Arsenal and Spurs.

Best bet – Joao Palhinha to be booked at 11/4

Brentford vs Crystal Palace

Only Joelinton has been carded more times than Ivan Toney this season and the Brentford striker could find himself on the wrong side of the referee again on Saturday.

The 26-year-old has been booked in four of his last eight Premier League appearances and three of these came in his four outings at the Brentford Community Stadium.

He comes up against a Crystal Palace side that have seen their opponents carded 43 times this season – the seventh highest in the league – and referee Paul Tierney has handed out the second-most cards (62) of any referee in the top flight this season.

Best bet – Ivan Toney to be booked at 4/1

Newcastle vs Liverpool

As mentioned above, Joelinton has been carded more than any other player in the Premier League this season despite only starting 19 matches.

The 26-year-old Brazilian has been booked in each of his last three Premier League appearances and five of his nine cards have come at St James’ Park.

Taking charge of Saturday’s evening kick-off will be Anthony Taylor, who has dished out more cards (63) than any other top-flight referee this season, averaging 3.94 cards per game.

Best bet – Joelinton to be booked at 3/1
