Scottish Saturdays: Back our 7/1 double here

The Scottish Premiership has now split into the championship and relegation groups and at the bottom of the table the battle against the drop has caught the attention of Racing Post expert Henry Hardwicke this week.

He’s put together this 7/1 double tip as he feels two strugglers can claim vital victories. All prices quoted are from bet365, and new customers can get £30 in free bets if they sign up and bet £10 using the button below.

Celtic have the Scottish Premiership title wrapped up but there are five crucial rounds of fixtures in the battle to stay in the SPL.

St Johnstone, Dundee United, Kilmarnock and Ross County return after the split with just six points separating the four sides at the wrong end of the table.

Dundee have improved since Jim Goodwin took charge at Tannadice, but there doesn’t look any value in the 21/10 on offer when the Terrors go to St Johnstone.

Kilmarnock’s away form has been awful this season. Killie have won just once on the road this term, scoring on only eight occasions, but there’s nothing like a relegation battle to focus the mind and they could be worth a punt at Motherwell.

Derek McInnes’ men have shown what they are capable of by beating top-six sides Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs at Rugby Park this season, and at the prices, they can be chanced to put up an improved away showing at Fir Park.

Kilmarnock were excellent when recording their first away SPL victory of the season at St Mirren prior to the break and they were previously competitive on trips to Aberdeen and Rangers. That should boost Killie’s confidence and they face a Motherwell side that have won only three of their last 15 home contests.

Livingston have lost five away games on the bounce, registering only seven shots on target and Ross County can boost their survival hopes when Livi come to town.

The Staggies have been beaten in seven of their last nine matches, but those defeats have come in fixtures including games against Rangers, Celtic and Aberdeen and four of those reversals have come by a single-goal margin.

A contest against Livingston looks far more winnable and certainly more achievable than the prices suggest.
