Team Goals Long Haul Accumulator
Monday – Salernitana vs Roma
Roma picked up a win in their first game after Jose Mourinho’s departure and they are expected to follow that up with a strong showing at bottom-club Salernitana. Serie A’s basement side have conceded twice in eight of their last nine, including each of their last four.
The hosts concede two goals per game on average in Serie A this term and they’ve got the worst defensive record in the league. With Roma benefitting from a new manager bounce, back them for a couple of goals.
Tip: Over 1.5 Roma goals
Tuesday – Leicester vs Swansea
Leicester are by far the strongest side in the Championship and they’re into the last 16 of the FA Cup too after a 3-0 victory over Birmingham at the weekend.
The Foxes have scored 28 times across their 14 home league games this term, while they host a Swansea side who have lost 3-1 at home to Southampton and 5-0 at Bournemouth across their last two games. The Welsh side also lost 3-1 at home when these two met earlier this season, so back at least a couple of goals for Leicester.
Tip: Over 1.5 Leicester goals
Wednesday – Sheffield Wednesday vs Watford
Watford are fresh from a couple of 1-1 draws in tricky games, but they can return to their recent high-scoring ways when they visit second-bottom Sheffield Wednesday. The Owls have lost 2-1 to Coventry and 4-0 at Sunderland in their last two league games and they rank among the worst defences in the league.
The Hornets head into this one having scored at least twice in five of their last six away trips and that rich scoring form is worth getting behind away to a side who are on the way back to League One.
Tip: Over 1.5 Watford goals
Thursday – West Ham vs Bournemouth
Bournemouth won 5-0 in the FA Cup on Thursday but they’ve lost their last two league games going into this visit to the London Stadium. It does feel like the Cherries’ recent climb up the Premier League table has hit a ceiling, with the club losing 4-0 at home to Liverpool and 3-1 at Tottenham.
West Ham can add to their issues, despite a four-match winless run. The Hammers average 1.7 goals per home league game this term and they meet a Bournemouth side who have shipped 23 times across their 10 away trips. Even given their recent good run, the Cherries have still conceded twice or more across their last three on the road. David Moyes’ side will hope to have Mohammed Kudus back and they can cause problems for Bournemouth.
Tip: Over 1.5 West Ham goals
Friday – Athletic Bilbao vs Mallorca
Mallorca booked a spot in the Copa del Rey last four last week, but they lost again in the league on Saturday which left them just five points clear of the drop zone. Things could get even worse as they kick off the weekend’s La Liga action away to Athletic Bilbao.
Mallorca have lost all of their away meetings with teams in the top seven and they visit a team who are on a roll at home. Fifth-placed Athletic return to San Mames for the first time since dumping Barcelona out of the cup. They’ve now scored at least twice in all but one of their last 12 home matches, a run dating back to August. With Mallorca struggling against top sides, back the hosts to score another couple.
Tip: Over 1.5 Athletic goals
Saturday – Girona vs Real Sociedad
Girona continued their title charge with a 1-0 win at Celta Vigo last weekend and they return home for a clash with sixth-placed Real Sociedad on Saturday. While the visitors are likely to prove tricky, it has to be noted that they’ve lost 2-1 in each of their visits to the sides above them.
Sociedad don’t concede a lot of goals but they have fallen short against tougher teams and there’s little doubt Girona are now in that mix, having won 17 of 22 matches this season. They’ve scored 30 times across 11 home matches, scoring at least twice in each of their previous five at home.
Tip: Over 1.5 Girona goals
Sunday – Arsenal vs Liverpool
Liverpool’s brilliant scoring form continued on Sunday when they blew Norwich away 5-2 in the FA Cup. The Reds have now found the net twice or more in six of their last seven, a run which includes a visit to Arsenal in the cup.
The Gunners had the weekend off thanks to that defeat but they’ve suffered three defeats across their last four, conceding twice in each of those losses. Confidence looks low for the Gunners and considering Liverpool’s excellent form, they’re great value to score another couple of goals in North London.
Tip: Over 1.5 Liverpool goals
