The period between Christmas and New Year, dubbed Twixmas by some, is good for one thing and one thing only: Constant, non-top sporting action.

Focusing on football, the action begins at lunchtime on Boxing Day as we are treated to eight Premier League games and a full EFL schedule, before another couple of top-flight affairs the day after alongside some European action.

The European fixture list continues with Serie A games on the Saturday, and the week ends back where we started with a bulging list of Premier League and EFL fixtures.

I have put together a six-fold accumulator covering these four days, bookended with two selections on Boxing Day and Sunday to celebrate the two busiest days on the calendar.

Back our 16/1 Long Haul Goals Galore acca here!

Thursday – Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham Hotspur – Over 2.5 goals

Nottingham Forest are flying under Nuno Espirito Santo and, considering the Portuguese manager’s low-scoring stint at Wolves, it is perhaps surprising to see the Tricky Trees involved in plenty of high-scoring affairs this season.

Over 2.5 goals has landed in seven of their last nine matches and they are coming up against a chaotic Tottenham outfit, with Ange Postecoglou’s side playing out a 5-0 win in their last trip away from north London.

Thursday – Coventry City vs Plymouth Argyle – Over 2.5 goals

Coventry were thrashed at Portsmouth on Saturday, but they will be hoping for a more positive, but still high-scoring, outing back in the West Midlands on Boxing Day.

Each of the Sky Blues’ last nine competitive home games have produced at least three goals and their last five at home have totalled 19 goals, while over 2.5 goals has landed in five of Plymouth’s last six games, with these six outings averaging 4.33 goals per game.

Friday – Brighton vs Brentford – Over 2.5 goals

Neither of these sides were involved in high-scoring games on Saturday, but that is the exception rather than the rule when it comes to Brighton and Brentford.

Over 2.5 goals has landed in nine if Brighton’s 11 competitive outings at the Amex Stadium this season and they face a Bees side whose last six games have averaged 4.33 goals per game, with five of them going over 2.5 goals. Expect another thriller on the south coast.

Saturday – Lazio vs Atalanta – Over 2.5 goals

Sitting fourth and second respectively, Lazio and Atalanta are two of the three highest-scoring sides in the Serie A table, and we can expect fireworks when they clash in Rome on Saturday.

Lazio’s last home game was a shock 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Inter Milan, meaning that over 2.5 goals has landed in 11 of their 12 competitive home matches this season, while Atalanta thrashed Cesena 6-1 last time out to make it 17 goals in total across their last four assignments.

Sunday – Fulham vs Bournemouth – Over 2.5 goals

Fulham and Bournemouth have both enjoyed a fantastic first half to the Premier League season and they could end 2024 with a goalfest at Craven Cottage.

Bournemouth put three past Manchester United at Old Trafford in their most recent away game, making it four successive away games in which over 2.5 goals has landed, while six of the Cottagers’ nine home games have produced three or more goals, too.

Sunday – Peterborough vs Barnsley – Over 2.5 goals

The 75 goals scored across Peterborough’s 20 League One games is more than any other side in the division and more goals are on the agenda when Barnsley come to town in their final match of 2024.

Over 2.5 goals has been a winner in nine of Posh’s last ten in all competitions and their last two at home have produced ten goals in total, while the visiting Tykes have seen three or more goals in each of their last three.
