The first international break of 2024 is just around the corner, but before that, there is another busy week of club football to come on both the domestic and European front.

We have picked out a match from each day this week to feature on our Both Teams to Score accumulator.

Monday – Chelsea vs Newcastle

Chelsea have proven a difficult team to predict this season, but one thing that is usually guaranteed in matches involving the Blues is goals at both ends, as that has occurred in each of their last five Premier League matches and in nine of their previous 10.

Newcastle also tend to serve up plenty of entertainment, with three or more goals having been scored in each of the Magpies last nine league fixtures.

Best Bet: Both teams to score

Tuesday – Chesterfield vs Oxford City

Chesterfield are the runaway leaders in the National League and they have scored an eye-watering 91 goals from their 37 matches to date.

However, the Spireites are not exactly watertight at the back, conceding in seven of their last eight and despite being bottom of the table, Oxford City can net against the league leaders, as they boast decent firepower, scoring more goals than nine other teams in the division.

Best Bet: Both teams to score

Wednesday – Bournemouth vs Luton

Bournemouth and Luton were both involved in score draws at the weekend and they can both net at the Vitality Stadium on Wednesday as well.

The Cherries have scored and conceded in six of their last seven league games, while that has also occurred in each of Luton’s last seven fixtures across all competitions, a sequence that includes a 4-4 draw with Newcastle and a 6-2 defeat to Manchester City.

Best Bet: Both teams to score

Thursday – Salford vs Stockport

Salford have conceded in 10 matches on the spin and that trend could continue when League Two leaders Stockport visit the Peninsula Stadium, although the Ammies have at least scored in 10 of their last 11.

Stockport ended a recent sticky spell with victory over Newport last time out and they are averaging almost two goals-per-game on the road this season – only league leaders Mansfield have scored more away goals in the division.

Best Bet: Both teams to score

Friday – Empoli vs Bologna

Empoli have put three goals past Monza, Salernitana and Sassuolo since the turn of the year and they have also netted against Juventus and Fiorentina during that period.

Davide Nicola will be hopeful his side can also get on the scoresheet against Champions League chasing Bologna, who have netted in nine of their last 10 away matches in Serie A, but are without a clean-sheet on the road since September.

Best Bet: Both teams to score

Saturday – Plymouth vs Preston

Plymouth have scored 54 Championship goals this season, more than any team in the bottom half of the standings, with 38 of those strikes coming on home soil.

However, the Pilgrims have also conceded in 11 home matches on the spin across all competitions and they will be hosting a Preston side that have scored five goals across their last two away fixtures to keep themselves in the hunt for a play-off place.

Best Bet: Both teams to score

Sunday – Borussia Dortmund vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Borussia Dortmund have averaged two goals-per-game across their last five Bundesliga matches and have only failed to score in two of their last 45 games in the German top flight.

Eintracht Frankfurt have scored at least two goals in each of their last three away matches, but they have conceded in all of those games and have only kept one shutout on the road across their last 11, a run that dates back to early November.
