US PGA Championship: Spieth shoots for Grand Slam plus 80/1 outsider tip
The elite of golf head to Tulsa, Oklahoma this week for the second Major of the year, the US PGA Championship, and all eyes will be on Masters champion Scottie Scheffler as he looks to extend a brilliant start to 2022.
The Texan has won four of his last seven tournaments, including his three-shot success at Augusta, but the world’s top players will be gunning for him as they look to succeed Phil Mickelson as PGA champion.
Jon Rahm, who Scheffler deposited as world number one, will be looking for his second Major triumph and heads into the tournament having triumphed in his last outing at the Mexico Open.
However, there are a host of other players who can make a big impression.

US PGA Championship winner prediction – Jordan Spieth at 18/1
Jordan Spieth could become only the sixth player in golf history to win all four of the game’s four Majors this week and there is a decent chance he can join that select group.
His best US PGA performance came in 2015 when he came second to Australia’s Jason Day but he heads to Oklahoma in a rich vein of form.
Spieth was disappointing at the Masters when he missed the cut but he picked himself up from that blow when he won the RBC Heritage the following week.
He demonstrated that he could be back to his best when he was second behind Kyoung-hoon Lee at last week’s AT&T Byron Nelson in his home state of Texas and his game looks to be coming together at exactly the right time for him to make a bold bid for a place among the game’s greatest ever players.
US PGA Championship outsider prediction – Keegan Bradley at 80/1
There are plenty of players at the top of the market who can make bold bids for glory at Southern Hills, but if you are looking for a strong potential challenger a little further down the list then Keegan Bradley could fit the bill.
It is 11 years since he won this tournament in his first Major at Atlanta Athletic Club, beating Jason Dufner in a playoff, and while he has had his ups and downs over the last few years, he can certainly make his presence felt this week.
Bradley was 17th at Kiawah Island last year and his recent form has been encouraging.
He was 11th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, fifth at the Players Championship and eighth at the Valero Texas Open.
And he perhaps should have got the job done at the Wells Fargo Championship last time out when a closing 72 saw his chance slip away.
His last win came at the BMW Championship in 2018 but he could prove to be a factor.
US PGA Championship special bet – Cameron Smith top Rest of the World player at 11/2
Cameron Smith will be looking to become the sixth Australian to win the US PGA, but with the last six having all been won by Americans, it could be a good bet to back him to be the top Rest of teh World player at Southern Hills.
Smith’s 2022 got off to an excellent start when he won the Tournament of Champions in Hawaii in Januray, before he snared the most illustrious prize of his career with a victory at the Players Championship.
This accurate iron player could make hay in Oklahoma and should draw confidence from a third-placed finish at Augusta.
He has a great chance of enjoying a fine week.
