Year in Sport: See our 300,000/1 acca for 2025's biggest events!

Before becoming a Sports Journalist for Free Super Tips, Aaron spent three years studying Sports Journalism at the University of Sunderland while taking in the Black Cats' 'glory years' under Martin O'Neill. Now back in Northern Ireland he turns niche stats into predictions for FST, while he's one of the few people on this island who is equally comfortable at Windsor Park and the Aviva.

Now that football’s festive fixture rush is over, we can turn our focus to all the great sport coming our way in 2025. We’ve called upon a panel of experts, with each casting an eye over one of the major events coming up across the next 12 months.

Tom Hill

Kansas City Chiefs to win the Super Bowl – 7/2

Both the Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills deserve respect, but the smart play is the Kansas City Chiefs as they look to win their third Super Bowl in a row.

The Chiefs have not had things their own way, and their offence has not played to the same level as their rivals, but their 15-1 record is a testament to good coaching.

Having secured the no.1 seed in the AFC, Kansas City can rest their players and enjoy a bye, while they know exactly what it takes to lift that Vince Lombardi trophy.

Andy Reid’s team comes good at this time of year and may have the upper hand again this season.

Will Maxwell

Ireland to win the Six Nations – 13/8

Given the performances of Europe’s big six since the last edition of this competition, it looks increasingly likely that the victor will likely be one of either Ireland or France.

While Les Bleus will be buoyed by the return of Antoine Dupont after he helped guide the French Sevens to Olympic gold last summer, the Six Nations crown could once again fall the way of the Irish – who have won the last two tournaments.

Simon Easterby’s men won three of their four autumn internationals and will face France at home in the 2025 tournament. This home advantage could be pivotal in directing the Championship towards Ireland once again.

Alex Wrigley

Lando Norris to win the F1 Drivers Championship – 2/1

Lando Norris signed off the 2024 season with a team radio message claiming that “Next year is going to be my year, too” following McLaren’s World Constructors’ Championship win in Abu Dhabi and the Briton is justified favourite for the crown in 2025.

The 25-year-old went toe-to-toe with Max Verstappen for much of last season, but McLaren should start off on the right foot in 2025 and that can give Norris the edge.

Red Bull could regress following the departure of Adrian Newey, and Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari could mean a smaller share of the points for Charles Leclerc if the Scuderia bring a challenge-worthy car.

Norris had the beating of teammate Oscar Piastri for the majority of last season, so this may be his best chance of claiming a World Drivers’ Championship.

Henry Hardwicke

Mark Allen to win the World Snooker Championship – 12/1

Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Williams and John Higgins have combined to collect 14 World Championships in their careers, but with the three stars of the sport reaching the age of 50 next year, who is ready to break through and fill the void?

The answer could be Mark Allen. Clearly, the Antrim ace is not the new kid on the block, but the Northern Irishman has won seven major trophies over the last three seasons and the Pistol looks a bet to land his first World Championship title.

The likes of Judd Trump, Kyren Wilson and Mark Selby are all dangerous but Allen looks the best play at the current prices.

Joe Champion

Justin Thomas to win The US Masters – 25/1

Scottie Scheffler continued to set the standard in golf last year, winning nine times including a second Masters title, and he’ll almost certainly be sent off favourite when the first Major of 2025 begins at Augusta National in April.

However, there are a few players who have the potential to shorten in the Green Jacket betting over the next few months with 25-1 chance Justin Thomas one of the most likely candidates.

Thomas ended a disappointing 2024 in fine fashion, finishing second at the Zozo Championship and third at the Hero World Challenge, and he has all the attributes to contend at Augusta, particularly if he can get a win under his belt over the first three months of the season.

Liam Flin

Chelsea to win the Fifa Club World Cup – 10/1

It remains to be seen how seriously the big guns will take this year’s Fifa Club World Cup, which takes on a brand new format featuring a group stage and knockout phase in June and July.

Even with the format change, European clubs will likely dominant given the gulf in class between them and the rest but Real Madrid and Manchester City have both underwhelmed this season.

The Champions League concludes just two weeks before the Fifa Club World Cup begins, so this is unlikely to be a priority for the aforementioned duo and Chelsea look the best bet.

The Blues have a huge squad, so are less likely to suffer from end-of-season fatigue and they have made significant progress under Enzo Maresca, who is getting a tune out of Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson among others.

Aaron Ashley

Carlos Alcaraz to win men’s Wimbledon title – 13/10

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner look set to dominate the ATP Tour for many years to come and their growing rivalry is likely to be evident come the summer time at Wimbledon.

However, Alcaraz has taken the title at the All England Club in each of the last two seasons and has looked more natural on grass in the early parts of his career than Sinner, so is fancied to bring up the hat-trick.

The Spaniard defeated seven-time champion Novak Djokovic 6-2 6-2 7-6 in a one-way final last year and, with Sinner coming under increased scrutiny for two failed doping tests and still at risk of a possible suspension, he is a worthy favourite to reign supreme again.
