Aberdeen and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Aberdeen have won all six home league games this season with both teams scoring in four. They beat Dundee 2-1 at Dens Park earlier this season, making it four of the last six meetings that both teams have scored, and a similar outcome could be on the cards if they can put last weekend’s 6-0 hammering by Celtic behind them.

Aberdeen vs Dundee Predictions

  • Aberdeen have won all six home league games this season with both teams scoring in four
  • The Dons beat Dundee 2-1 at Dens Park earlier this season
  • Both teams have scored in six of the last nine meetings of the clubs

Dons need to put Hampden horror show behind them

Aberdeen need to put last weekend’s 6-0 Hampden Park mauling at the hands of Celtic behind them when they return to Premiership action against Dundee at Pittodrie on Saturday.

Jimmy Thelin’s men were taken apart by the Scottish champions, who they remain neck-and-neck with in the league, the League Cup semi-final. The Dons’ cannot afford to suffer any hangover against Dundee, who quickly forgot their 2-0 defeat to Celtic by storming back to beat Kilmarnock last weekend.

It was a remarkable comeback from Tony Docherty’s men, who moved up to sixth place thanks to that win. Ziyad Larkeche dedicated his 94th-minute winner to teammate Mo Sylla and his new son, demonstrating the fine team spirit that runs through the side.

Dundee were fortunate to avoid similar Celtic fate

Dundee have proven awkward opponents for Aberdeen in the past and were no pushovers at Dens Park earlier this season when the Dons held on for a 2-1 victory.  Both teams have scored in six of the last nine meetings between these two east coast clubs and that could well be on the cards again given how easily both were opened up by Celtic.

Although Aberdeen came off worse by conceding six, Celtic’s expected goals in their 2-0 home win over Dundee was close to five and their open play xG was just under four.

Thelin’s team have not tasted defeat before this season, so it is by no means certain that they react positively to the League Cup thrashing, but their home league form is a perfect six wins from six, so they are probably worth backing on that basis. Four of those six wins came with both teams on the scoresheet, so add that to the bet to bump the odds up.
