AC Milan vs Cagliari Predictions
- AC Milan have just beaten Juventus and Inter Milan to win the Italian Super Cup
- Cagliari have lost four of their last six Serie A away games
- At least three goals have been scored in four of Cagliari’s last five away games and the last four head-to-head meetings
Feelgood factor returns to Milan
AC Milan have a feelgood factor about them right now which should carry them to victory when they resume Serie A action at home to lowly Cagliari on Saturday evening. The Rossoneri remain eight points behind fourth-placed Lazio in the race to qualify for the Champions League again, but their back-to-back victories over Juventus and Inter Milan in Saudi Arabia last week suggest they can make up the ground.
New Milan boss Sergio Conceicao got his career in Italy off to a superb start as his side came from behind to beat the Old Lady 2-1 in the Super Cup semi-final and then produced the mother of all comebacks to beat their city rivals 3-2 in the final.
The confidence those wins should bring may be enough to snap Milan out of an inconsistent league run that has seen them take only five points from their last four games.
Cagliari have been ropey on the road
Cagliari have not proved to be to much of a problem for Milan either in the last few years. The Rossoneri have won 11 and drawn three of their meetings since the Sardinians’ last win over them in 2017.
Davide Nicola’s side claimed a 3-3 home draw against a defensively inept Milan in November and will probably get on the scoresheet again. They halted a five-game losing skid when beating basement club Monza 2-1 away last time out to boost flagging confidence levels, although their overall away form is poor.
Conceicao’s side have too much quality all over the pitch for them and have some in-form players like Christian Pulisic to pull them through if things get too close for comfort. The US international scored in both Super Cup games last week to make it three goals in his last six Milan appearances.
