AC Milan vs Inter Milan Predictions

• AC Milan have won both previous derby games this season but come into this off a 2-1 loss to Dinamo Zagreb
• Inter Milan are on a roll having beaten Lecce 4-0 and Monaco 3-0 in the past week
• Lautaro Martinez has scored eight goals in his last 16 appearances against AC Milan

Nerazzuri are not in the mood for another derby defeat

The Nerazzurri can stop the Rossoneri from winning a third derby of the season when irrepressible Inter face mercurial AC Milan at San Siro on Sunday.  Simone Inzaghi’s side go into the game three points behind Napoli in the race to retain the Scudetto while their stadium-sharing rivals sit in seventh place, five points off the top four.

Yet it is the Rossoneri who have prevailed in both previous encounters this term, clinching a 2-1 Serie A success in September thanks to Matteo Gabbia’s goal and storming back from 2-0 down to beat Inter 3-2 in an epic Italian Super Cup Final early this year.

The ‘home’ side cannot be entirely ruled out from producing another upset on Sunday, but the smart money will surely be on Inzaghi’s side to take all three points.

Martinez may be the man to break Milan’s hearts

Inter have won 13 of their 16 league games since that defeat in September and are back to what they do best – keeping clean sheets. They have shut out nine of their last 14 Serie A opponents and warmed up for this clash with a 3-0 midweek Champions League win over Monaco.

The Nerazurri have been in the unfamiliar position of chasers and not leaders this term, but there are signs that they are ready to emulate the 10-game title-winning streak they put together between January and March of last season. They have won their last seven Serie A away games to nil and covered a -1 handicap in five of them.

They thrashed Lecce 4-0 last weekend and with Lautaro Martinez bang in form, should cover a -1 handicap again to make this a decisive derby victory. The Argentinean has scored in each of Inter’s last five games, including a hat-trick against Monaco.
