AFC Bournemouth vs Ipswich Predictions
- Seven of Bournemouth’s last nine league matches have featured at least three goals
- Ipswich have scored in nine of their last 12 league away games
- The Tractor Boys have conceded at least twice in eight of their last ten league outings
Tractor Boys look doomed to Championship return
Bournemouth have lost four of their last five home matches after bowing out of the FA Cup against Manchester City on Sunday, but they should fully expect to get the better of Championship-bound Ipswich on Wednesday.
There were high hopes that the Tractor Boys would be able to pull off an escape after they beat Chelsea 2-0 at home on December 30, but they have claimed just one point from their nine subsequent outings, leaving them nine points adrift of 17th-placed Wolves.
However, they have a tendency to find the net on their travels – a 1-0 defeat at Crystal Palace last time out was just the fourth occasion in 14 road outings in which they have not registered – and they have little chance to get on the front foot.
Cherries should prove their superiority
Bournemouth are licking their wounds following their cup exit, especially as they took a 1-0 lead against the champions before falling 2-1, but Andoni Iraola’s side are capable of exploiting any gaps their visitors from Suffolk provide.
While they have scored more than once in just two of their last 12 games at the Vitality Stadium, it is worth recalling that Ipswich have conceded at least twice in eight of their last ten league games and shipped 62 goals in their 29 top-flight matches.
So while it would not be a surprise if both teams netted, the Cherries look likely to come out on top, with a 2-1 home win of potential interest for those looking for a correct-score bet.
Evanilson is a goal threat
Forward Justin Kluivert leads the Bournemouth scoring charts with 12 league goals this season, six of which have come from penalties, but it is worth having an interest in Evanilson finding the net on Wednesday night.
It was feared that the Brazilian may not play a great role in the second half of the season after he suffered a foot injury at the turn of the year, but he has bounced back well.
His opener against City was his third goal in four matches following effort in the FA Cup fifth-round tie against Wolves and the 2-2 league draw at Tottenham and he had four goal attempts in their most recent home league game against Brentford, so he has clearly got his eye in.
