It was perhaps a harsh result as the game was competitive, but Ajax have been exceptional at home of late and Union SG have been poor on their travels in Europe and come into the game in mixed form – with three defeats and two wins in their last five games.

Ajax are on a five-game winning streak and have won six in a row at the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Meanwhile, Union SG have won just one away game in Europe this season in five attempts and have lost the other four, including a defeat to Slavia Prague in Champions League qualifying.

A 3-1 win for Ajax is the correct score prediction, potentially with a late goal or two for the hosts if Union SG go all out at the end. Oliver Edvardsen comes into this game in good form with three goals and two assists in his last seven games for the hosts, and he looks a decent pick for an anytime goal on Thursday.
