Draw

Reason for tip

While there are ten points and eight places separating these sides in the La Liga table, the form of the pair suggests a stalemate may be on the cards in the Basque Country. Alaves have lost just one of their five games, suggesting they can frustrate their top-half visitors, who are without a win in five.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Three of Alaves’ last five matches have finished level and it is the 1-1 scoreline from their draw with Mallorca which appeals most as a correct-score bet for this clash. None of Alaves’ last eight home games have gone over 2.5 goals, so a goal and a point apiece seems likely when Rayo Vallecano visit.

Alaves vs Rayo Vallecano Predictions

  • Alaves have lost only one of their last five games
  • Rayo Vallecano have lost just three of their last 14 La Liga matches
  • None of Alaves’ last eight home matches have featured more than two goals

Alaves able to secure crucial point

An upturn in form has seen Alaves lose just one of their last five matches and their 2-2 draw with Las Palmas last time ensured they spent the international break outside the relegation zone.

However, their La Liga status is far from secure as not only are they still level on points with 18th-placed Leganes, five of their next seven matches will be against sides currently in the top half of Spain’s top flight.

That run includes Saturday’s home clash with Rayo Vallecano, although there is hope that the hosts can earn an important point given their visitors’ poor recent form.

Vallecano may have to settle for a stalemate

Vallecano’s hopes of playing in Europe for the first time since 2001 have faded greatly due to a five-game winless run and they are now seven points off the top six.

Their defeats in that run all came by a one-goal margin, though, and in games they will have been expected to lose, facing Real Madrid, Barcelona and Villarreal. It is also worth noting that those losses were Rayo’s only three in their last 14 La lIga games.

That suggests that, while they are certainly out of form, they are still performing at a decent enough level to secure a point at Alaves, who may be content with a draw themselves given their precarious position.
