Algeria vs Cameroon Predictions
- Each of the four H2H meetings since 2004 produced under 2.5 goals.
- All five first legs in the African World Cup Qualifying finals produced two or fewer goals.
- Algeria are clinging on to a 1-0 advantage from the first leg.
Algeria can outfox Cameroon once more
In spite of Algeria’s AFCON failings, they are still indisputably one of Africa’s best sides as they shown in their 1-0 success in the first leg. Here, the Desert Foxes can build on that with another hard fought performance.
Even though they were eliminated at the group stage of AFCON, the stats told a story of a nation that were doing their utmost. Notably, Algeria produced more shots than all but two other nations by the time they were eliminated, but they finally made that dominance show when winning last time out.
A big job for Cameroon’s ‘Big Chief’
Cameroon stumbled in their opening game after their former manager, Toni Conceicao, was sacked following his third-placed effort in Cameroon’s own AFCON recently. Such was to be expected, as Conceicao has gone unbeaten in 25 of his 28 games in charge!
Notably of Galatasaray, West Ham and Liverpool as a player, Cameroon boss Rigobert Song – or ‘Big Chief’ to Turkish fans – is looking for his first victory in the hot seat. Games don’t come much bigger than this as Cameroon’s World Cup ambitions are on the line.
While it is true that Song knows the side well after managing the U23 setup since 2018, we think the value lies in backing an Algeria win in this game, given their much more settled nature. As for the correct score, it could take just one goal to settle this one yet again, we are siding with a 1-0 home win.
