Almeria looking to end their poor run

Almeria have been stuck in a bit of a rut lately, and a run of just one win in five, keeping only one clean sheet in the process, has seen them drop out of the automatic promotion spaces.

Rubi’s side have now seen both teams score in three of their last four on home soil too, including a 1-0 defeat to Girona last time out, but that was just the second time they had failed to net in nine outings at all venues.

They have generally been strong at Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos though, losing just three times in 17 games, with all those defeats coming to sides in the promotion places.

Ponferradina also in poor form

Both sides actually come into this game in need of a win, with a run of six without a victory meaning Ponferradina have now dropped out of the play-off places.

Bolo’s side have had a problem with clean sheets, keeping just one of them in 11 outings, and that was against relegation threatened Malaga.

Both teams have scored in three of their last four on the road and seven of their last eight at all venues, showing they know where the back of the net is, but they have not beaten a team in the top half since September.

Both teams to score is my initial selection for this game, but I expect Almeria to pick up the win, selecting 2-1 as a correct score prediction.
