Andorra vs England Predictions
- Andorra have conceded 14 goals so far including four away to England
- The hosts have conceded four goals at home to both Hungary and the Republic of Ireland this year
- England have scored 4+ goals in half of their qualifying games in this group
- Tammy Abraham has scored four goals in eight games for Roma
Another mismatch for England
England took a big step towards the 2022 World Cup with their draw in Poland last month and they should be all but over the line by the time October’s double header wraps up. Meetings with Andorra and Hungary aren’t expected to trouble Gareth Southgate’s men too much, having won five of six games so far.
Andorra are second-bottom of the group having conceded 14 times in six games, scoring only four in return. That includes a 4-0 hammering by England at Wembley last time out and given the gulf in quality between the pair it’s easy to see another wide margin when they clash this weekend.
Kane expected to sit out
England are likely to give Harry Kane a break for one of their easiest games in the group and on current form he’s arguably not worthy of a place in the side. It might help Kane to get some minutes for England having struggled to impress under Nuno at Tottenham this season but with little reason to risk him expect some other England stars to make an impression.
Tammy Abraham was a late addition to this England squad but his call up was more than justified. He’s impressed since linking up with Jose Mourinho at Roma and the former Chelsea man has proven to be a clinical finisher in Serie A.
Abraham has scored four goals across his last eight for Roma and expect him to relish whatever time he gets on the pitch against this poor Andorran defence. Abraham’s last England goal came in a 7-0 rout of Montenegro and we’re backing him to notch in another comprehensive success.
Back another big win for Three Lions
When England faced Andorra at Wembley Gareth Southgate started that game with five defenders and two holding midfielders. That bizarre selection was changed towards the end of the game, which showed given that it was 1-0 to the Three Lions after 70 minutes.
A more adventurous England side scored three times in the final 18 minutes to record a 4-0 win and Southgate giving more attackers a chance here should bring another comfortable victory. Andorra have already conceded four at home to both Hungary and the Republic of Ireland this year, so their backline is incredibly vulnerable even at home.
England have scored four or more in half of their games in this group and I see them breezing by Andorra even with a few changes. As a result, England look good value on the -3 handicap and with Southgate unlikely to go too conservative here back the Three Lions to run out 5-0 winners at Andorra.
