Angers vs Lille Predictions

• Only leaders PSG have conceded fewer goals in Ligue 1 than Lille this season
• The only team who haven’t beaten Angers in their last seven league games were bottom-of-the-table Montpellier
• Angers have failed to score in four of their last five home league games

Lille need to push on for Europe

There are only three Champions League places up for grabs in Ligue 1 so fourth-placed Lille have work to do if they want to be back dining at Europe’s top table.

They have two points to make up on Marseille in second and a point on Monaco in third, but they should not lose any more ground this week as they should seal three points at struggling Angers on Sunday.

Their hosts are desperate for points to drag themselves away from trouble after stalling at just the wrong time. They have lost six of their last seven league matches and the only success in that run was a 2-0 win over Montpellier, who are marooned at the bottom of the table.

Angers may not possess much punch

Lille’s form is admittedly not great – they have lost four of their last six and their 2-1 win at Toulouse in their last away game was only their second success in their last ten league road assignments, which is disappointing for a challenger at the top of the table.

Nevertheless, with Angers having found the net in just one of their last five home league matches, it is doubtful whether they will have enough to punish them and Lille can replicate the 2-0 success that both Marseille and Monaco recently earned there.
