Goals galore in Angers

Both teams to score could be the best bet when Angers host Marseille in Ligue 1 on Sunday. This has been a winning bet in nine of Marseille’s last 11 league games and they have scored three goals or more in seven of their 20 Ligue 1 games this season.

Marseille are second in the league, ten places and 17 points above Angers, who are 12th with six wins, five draws and nine defeats from their 20 games this season.

It’s hard to draw many conclusions from Angers’ recent Ligue 1 results, with three wins, one draw and two defeats in their last six outings. 

However, Marseille have won four of the last six Ligue meetings with Angers and were 3-2 winners against Lyon in their most recent league game last Sunday.

Marseille beat having conceded the opening goal for the fourth game running. They have won four of the nine games this season in which they’ve shipped the first goal (44%). This was their ninth game in 11 with both teams scoring.

Both teams have scored in six of Angers’ ten Ligue 1 home games this season and in six of Marseille’s ten away games.

Both teams have shown signs of defensive vulnerability lately, which could lead to goals in this game. Angers have failed to keep a clean sheet in five of their last seven Ligue 1 games, while Marseille have conceded on each of their last two league away trips.

There should be goals at both ends and the 2-2 draw looks like a tempting correct-score pick with it difficult to see a winner in the game.
