Shakhtar can get campaign back on track

Shakhtar Donetsk made a losing start to their Champions League campaign away to Porto last month but have a great chance to bounce back away to Anterp on Wednesday.

Donetsk lost 3-1 at the Volksparkstadion last time out with all the game’s goals coming inside the opening 29 minutes but a less frenetic affair is expected on matchday two.

Next up for the Ukrainian Premier League side is a visit to debutants Antwerp, who were put in their place in a 5-0 hammering by Barcelona on matchday one.

Antwerp likely to be out of their depth again

That match was a baptism of fire for Antwerp, who lost the shot count 22-3, conceded 70 per cent possession and managed just one shot on target at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.

It looks very likely that they could be the whipping boys in Group H and another defeat could await them against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Donetsk had a tough time of it against Porto but will be hoping they can count on their superior continental experience at the Bosuilstadion.

The Barca defeat seemed to shake Antwerp, who have since racked up three 0-0 draws in the Belgian Pro League against RWDM, Gent and Mechelen.

Their lack of quality in front of goal could cost them and a 1-0 win for visitors Shakhtar is the way to go in the correct score market.
