Argentina vs Colombia Predictions
- Argentina have won 13, drawn five and lost only one game across their last three major tournaments.
- Colombia are unbeaten in their last 28 games dating back to the lats time they played Argentina in 2022
- Lautaro Martinez has scored six goals in his last six games for Argentina and in both of his last two appearances against Colombia
Tournament-tough Argentina tipped to take the trophy
Argentina’s tournament-tough mentality can ensure they prevail over a red-hot Colombian side in the final of the 2024 Copa America.
Lionel Scaloni’s side have been impressively ruthless during a tournament that has seen their winning temperaments get them through to another final without ever really hitting top gear.
Lionel Messi has been below his best, Julian Alvarez’s contributions have been fitful and some of the defending has lacked it’s usual authority. But the spine of the side has been very solid and when they came the closets to being bundled out, by Ecuador in the quarter-finals, the team’s veteran stars stepped up to see them through.
Colombia have an experience deficit
Colombia are not short of experience either with six players boasting over 50 caps and James Rodriguez still going strong after over 100 games for his country.
The ex-Everton man has been in brilliant form in the United States and will need to be marked closely, but he alone will struggle to make up for Colombia’s deficit of tournament experience – particularly at the sharp end.
Argentina were the last time to beat la Tricolor and it is easy to imagine them becoming the ones to end a record-breaking 28-game unbeaten run that has spanned the intervening years. They have a better goalkeeper, central defenders and attacking players than the Colombians, whose best bet will be to target the wide areas.
