Manchester City vs Arsenal Predictions
- City have a perfect record in the Premier League.
- City have conceded in three of their four league games.
- Arsenal have scored in 10 consecutive league games.
City can extend perfect start
Manchester City and Arsenal meet on Sunday in a key fixture in the battle for the league title.
The Gunners finished just two points adrift of champions City last season but they did enjoy the better results in the head-to-head meetings, taking four points from those two games.
City struggled in general against their key rivals last season but they can put that right this year, starting with a win over the Gunners on Sunday.
Both teams missing key men
It looks as if the hosts will be without Kevin De Bruyne after he picked up a groin injury in the midweek stalemate with Inter Milan, while Martin Odegaard is out for the visitors.
De Bruyne should be bac fairly soon but they have Phil Foden to call on and the Belgian’s absence is perhaps less of an issue for City than Odegaard’s is for Arsenal.
This is the kind of game that could be decided by small factors and with home advantage Pep Guardiola’s men look good value for the win.
City have won all four of their league games, while Arsenal have dropped points in a home draw with Brighton and they were arguably fortunate to come away from last week’s North London derby with all three.
Expect a tight affair
The two league meetings between these sides produced just one goal last season but this latest clash may provide a bit more entertainment.
City have scored at least twice in all of their league games and they can keep that run going. Arsenal have only conceded once so far but they also haven’t faced an attack this good, and had Spurs been a little more clinical last weekend their defensive record wouldn’t look quite so impressive. The fact Arsenal managed a shut-out at Tottenham probably had as much to do with poor finishing as it did with good defending, and they are unlikely to be as fortunate against City.
City have scored inside the first 20 minutes in all of their games so far and a first half strike for either side could open this game up, so a hard fought 2-1 win for the home side looks a reasonable correct score prediction.
It may not be the most inspiring selection, but in terms of a goalscorer bet it is impossible to ignore Erling Haaland. The Norwegian has scored in every league game so far and has a frankly ridiculous nine in total already, including two hat-tricks, so back him to continue his purple patch with another strike on Sunday.
