Arsenal vs Norwich Predictions

  • These two sides have conceded a combined 19 goals after three matches
  • Arsenal have scored at least three goals in six of their last seven home league games against Norwich

Pressure is on Arteta

There’s a big gulf between Arsenal and Norwich, but they’ve had an oddly similar season so far. The pair have both lost all three Premier League games to date, but they both got a reprieve a 6-0 victory in the Carabao Cup.

The pair have also both lost 5-0 to Man City this term. The fact that they’re so similar is a testament to Arsenal’s struggles, with Mikel Arteta under huge pressure to keep his job. The timeline varies on how long he has left to prove himself, but a slip up here would certainly accelerate it.

Two vulnerable sides

This clash is a meeting of the two worst defences in the Premier League, with the pair shipping 19 goals between them already this term. Neither look adept at the back and we’re backing more goals against both backlines this weekend.

Arsenal have the highest xG against in the Premier League this term (8.4) and that’s come as a result of terrible defending. They have been outclassed not just in meeting with Chelsea and Man City, but also in their opener at Brentford.

Meanwhile, Norwich showed real threat in their last outing. They lost 2-1 against Leicester but the Canaries got forward and made a game of it against the Foxes. Expect them to go after Arsenal’s defensive vulnerabilities.

Massive chance for Gunners

Arsenal have lost just two of their 18 Premier League meetings with Norwich (W9 D7) and they have to make the most of this game and get back on track. The Gunners have scored at least three goals in six of their last seven home league games against Norwich and a repeat would not be a surprise.

However, Arsenal’s defence can’t be trusted and the Gunners should concede given that Norwich won’t be afraid to commit players forward. Both teams to score is my prediction based on the quality of both sides at the back, while a 3-1 victory for Arsenal is my correct score prediction.

Arsenal predicted line-up: Leno; Maitland-Niles, White, Magalhaes, Tierney; Lokonga, Partey; Saka, Odegaard, Aubameyang; Lacazette (4-2-3-1)

Norwich City predicted line-up: Krul; Aarons, Hanley, Gibson, Williams; Lees-Melou, Gilmour, McLean; Cantwell, Pukki, Rashica (4-3-3)
