Arsenal vs Watford Predictions
- Arsenal have won to nil in five of their last nine competitive games.
- All six of Watford’s Premier League defeats this season have been to nil.
- Arsenal have won their last two matches 2-0.
Arsenal stock continues to rise
Arsenal’s excellent run of form continued last weekend as they saw off Leicester at the King Power Stadium and with home advantage on their side they will expect to claim another three points when Watford come to visit.
The Gunners started the season with three consecutive defeats in the Premier League but have since undergone a rapid transformation under Mikel Arteta. They head into this game unbeaten in nine competitive games and with seven wins to their name in that period.
Hornets fall short against top opposition
Watford have lost four of their last five meetings with Arsenal and it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see them struggle again on Sunday. They were beaten by Southampton last weekend and have now dropped down to 16th in the Premier League.
That loss at Vicarage Road was their fourth in their last six competitive games and they have failed to score in the last three of these defeats.
The Hornets have put in a few excellent attacking displays but they have struggled to threaten against the more talented top-flight outfits. In fact, they have failed to score in all six of their Premier League losses this term and their four games against opposition sides in the top nine have been lost by an aggregate scoreline of 10-0.
Smith Rowe to impress for Gunners
Arsenal’s defence has been solid of late and with five wins to nil in their last nine games I’m backing them to win and keep a clean sheet on Sunday, while I’m also going for a third consecutive 2-0 scoreline.
Emile Smith Rowe stands out as a good value option in the goalscorer market, too. The 21-year-old Gunner has scored in four of his last seven appearances and three of these have come in his four outings at the Emirates.
Arsenal predicted lineup: Ramsdale; Tomiyasu, White, Magalhaes, Tavares; Partey, Lokonga; Saka, Lacazette, Rowe; Aubameyang
Watford predicted lineup: Foster; Ngakia, Troost-Ekong, Cathcart, Masina; Sarr, Kucka, Sissoko, Dennis; Cleverley, King
