Arsenal and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

The in-form Gunners have won seven of nine top-flight matches at Emirates Stadium, including each of their last five. But both teams have scored in six of theitr nine home Premier League games in 2023-24, so there appears to be scope for West Ham to get a goal. The Hammers have scored in eight of their nine road trips in the league, but come into this contest with weak away form, having lost four of their last six.

Arsenal 3-1

Reason for tip

Apart from their 1-0 home win over Manchester City in October, Arsenal have scored at least two goals in all of their Premier League home games. They average three goals per game across that span and look equipped to secure another 3-1 home victory, having already seen off Man Utd and Burnley by that score earlier in the season. West Ham, meanwhile, have registered on four of their last six visits to Emirates Stadium, but never more than once per trip.

Mohammed Kudus To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Mohammed Kudus has scored four goals in his last five league appearances. The Ghana international was on the scoresheet against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup earlier this season and could be out to prove a point to the Gunners again, having been linked to the club in the past.

  • West Ham have scored in eight of their nine road trips in the league and lost four of their last six.

Gunners have the tools to see off Hammers

Arsenal secured a good point at Anfield to remain top of the pile at Christmas while West Ham saw off Manchester United to burst back into the top six on Saturday. Mikel Arteta’s side were a touch fortunate to survive penalty claims for a suspicious handball and a breakaway miss from Trent Alexander-Arnold, but Declan Rice always seemed to be on hand to extinguish Liverpool’s main threats.

The England midfielder was a substitute for this season’s first meeting with his former club, coming on with Arsenal already 2-0 down in the Carabao Cup clash at London Stadium. The Hammers ran out 3-1 winners, but this game could go in a different direction with Rice on the pitch to influence matters from the start.

The Gunners have scored the first goal in seven of their nine home league games this term and gone on to win six of them. West Ham, on the other hand, have failed to score a first-half goal in four of their last five league away dates and hardly looked like getting on the scoresheet before the break on Saturday.

Kudus to West Ham for getting away goals

The Gunners share the joint-best defensive record in the Premier League with Liverpool, but have only kept clean sheets in a third of their games at Emirates Stadium.

And West Ham, who have scored in eight of their nine road trips this season, certainly look capable of getting a goal in Thursday’s game. Jarrod Bowen has struck in the Hammers’ last three games and regularly causes Arsenal problems while Mohammed Kudus is also in good goalscoring form after bagging four goals in his last five top-flight appearances.

But the Gunners have plenty of firepower themselves and don’t look in the mood to relinquish first place right now. Former Hammer Declan Rice has been a steady hand at the tiller in midfield and has also popped up with some crucial late strikes too.

Three goals the norm at home for Arsenal

Apart from their 1-0 home win over Manchester City in October, Arsenal have scored at least two goals in all of their Premier League home games and should do so again to claim all three points.

West Ham have notched on four of their last six visits to the red side of North London, but never more than once per trip. Meanwhile, Arsenal average three goals per game across that span and look equipped to secure another 3-1 home victory, having already seen off Man Utd and Burnley by that score earlier in the season.
