Aston Villa vs Brentford Predictions
- Aston Villa have won 11 of their 15 home games.
- Brentford are winless in eight (D3, L5).
- The Bees have scored in seven of their last eight trips.
Villa can bounce back against Brentford
Aston Villa’s top four bid was dealt a setback on Wednesday as they slipped to a 4-1 loss at Manchester City, but they can bounce back against out-of-sorts Brentford.
The Villans are now just two points above Tottenham in fifth and have played a game more so their push for a place in next season’s Champions league is no longer in their hands.
Brentford are in the middle of a poor run as they have just three points to show from their last eight games. The Bees aren’t quite safe from the drop just yet but their six-point advantage over the bottom three does look a sizeable gap, taking into account the form of the teams in the relegation zone.
Hosts can claim the spoils
There are a few options to play around with for this game and a Villa win with goals at both ends or over 3.5 goals look interesting, but the price on a straightforward home win offers enough value here and looks good enough for a three star prediction.
Villa have won 11 of their 15 home league games and have lost just three, and all of those defeats came against teams currently in the top eight. They have dropped points in just one game against a side in the bottom half, a 1-1 draw with Sheffield United where they dominated for large periods.
Brentford have 11 defeats in their 15 trips and nine of those have come in their last 10 on the road, so Villa should be able to win fairly comfortably here.
Bees could be good for a goal
A 3-1 win for Villa is the correct score prediction as clean sheets have been a bit of an issue for Unai Emery’s men, as they have just seven in this competition all season. Brentford are generally good for a goal on their travels as they have only failed to score in one of their last eight away from home across all competitions.
Former Brentford man Ollie Watkins will probably miss out again for Villa and that offers a chance to pick out an alternative anytime scorer bet. Leon Bailey was named among the substitutes against City but could well come back into the starting side here and as the Jamaican performed well against both West Ham and Wolves recently, admittedly without scoring, he looks an interesting option to add to his tally of eight Premier League goals for the season.
