Hosts can hold-firm against in-form Freiburg

Four of the last six Bundesliga meetings between Augsburg and Freiburg have seen both teams find the net and that trend looks set to continue when they meet at the WWK Arena on Sunday.

SC Freiburg are fourth in the Bundesliga, 11 places and eight points above Augsburg, with 12 wins, three draws and eight defeats from their 23 games this season, while the hosts have won eight, drawn seven and lost eight.

Augsburg have gone seven games without defeat in the Bundesliga, although three of their last four matches have ended in draws. Freiburg were 1-0 winners over St Pauli in their last away game two weeks ago and have recorded seven victories in the last eight league head-to-heads with Augsburg.

Freiburg have scored in 11 of their last 12 league games and will be hopeful of getting on the scoresheet here but they might be denied a fifth straight success.

They have been in some low-scoring games of late – three of the last four have gone under 2.5 goals – with the exception being last week’s 5-0 win over Werder Bremen.

It could be hard to separate these two sides, with the 1-1 draw looking like a decent correct-score bet.
