Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Two of Rennes’ last four games were drawn as was Auxerre’s last Ligue 1 match, so a stalemate could be on the cards. Three of the last five league meetings between the clubs have finished all square and with both teams regularly scoring in these sides’ fixtures, a 1-1 result may be the final outcome.

Auxerre vs Rennes Predictions

  • Auxerre have avoided defeat in three of their last five Ligue 1 matches
  • Rennes have failed to win four of their last five league contests
  • Two of Rennes’ last four games were drawn as was Auxerre’s last Ligue 1 match

Auxerre are capable of resisting Rennes

Auxerre can collect another point in their bid for Ligue 1 survival when they host a Rennes side needing a rare away win at Stade de l’Abbé Deschamps on Sunday.

Christophe Pelissier’s men appear to be finding their feet again in France’s top division after a sticky start that saw the Ligue 2 champions lose four of their first five games.

Only one defeat in their next four has given Auxerre the confidence that they can compete against established sides like Rennes, particularly at home. They have won three of their first four home league outings this season and are attractively priced to beat a Rennes side that have lost three of their first four away games.

A draw could be on the cards

But that poor road sequence is probably not a fair reflection of where the Breton club are right now as they have had some tough assignments, including a trip to Paris Saint-Germain, on their schedule.

Guy Stephan’s side beat Le Havre at home last weekend to leapfrog Auxerre, who gained a creditable draw at Lyon. A draw could be on the cards in this fixture too as three of the last five league meetings between these clubs have ended all square.

But the double chance option for the home side to avoid defeat for  a fourth time in six outings looks a fair play at around the 8/11 mark given they have beaten three teams currently above Rennes in the table at home already this term.
