AZ Alkmaar to Win

Reason for tip

AZ Alkmaar have won eight of their last nine home games and could get the better of a Galatasaray side who have failed to win any of their last seven road trips in this competition and are missing star trio Victor Osimhen, Davinson Sanchez and Lucas Torreira through suspension.

AZ Alkmaar vs Galatasaray Predictions

  • AZ Alkmaar have won eight of their last nine home games
  • Both teams scored in all eight of the home team’s group matches
  • Troy Parrot has 16 goals in all competitions for AZ this term

AZ too strong at home

AZ Alkmaar have been in wonderful form at home recently, winning eight of their last nine matches in their own back yard, and they could extend that run against this Galatasaray side.

The visitors have not won any of their last seven away games in this competition and were beaten by Ajax in the group stages.

They were held to a 1-1 draw when these two teams met in November despite the hosts going down to ten men and AZ have improved since then, beating Roma, Ajax and Twente on home soil since these two teams faced off in the group stages.

AZ have only lost two of their last 35 home matches in all competitions and while Galatasaray have the more star-studded lineup, it is possible that they could be frustrated.

Gala missing key trio

Key men Victor Osimhen, Davinson Sanchez and Lucas Torreira are all suspended for the Turkish side for this first leg and that could be crucial, side with AZ to edge a first leg win.

Both teams scored in all eight of AZ’s group games and Gala were no slouches, netting 19 times in the group stages, so side with a 2-1 win for the home team for correct score purposes.

Troy Parrot has 16 goals in all competitions for AZ this term and could add to that tally here.
