      Bahia vs Atletico Mineiro Predictions

Tuesday’s Brazilian Serie A action sees Bahia and Atletico Mineiro doing battle. The hosts will be vying for the three points in order to try and move away from the drop zone.

Now unbeaten in 4 Serie A matches, confidence is really beginning to grow in Bahia ranks, something only further boosted by a 2-0 win over Uruguayans CA Cerro in a midweek Copa Sudamericana clash. Tricolor had made an extremely poor start to the season but things are improving now and they find themselves out of the drop zone at the time of writing, albeit only on goal difference.

Almost all of the side’s struggles so far this year have came on the road, evidenced by the fact that just 1 of their 16 points have been collected on enemy territory, mainly thanks to the fact they’ve only managed to score once away all season. Nonetheless, those statistics won’t be a worry coming into this clash, having lost just 1 of the last 23 matches at the Itaipava Arena Fonte Nova and with 15 of those fixtures ending in wins, home fans are hopeful of seeing yet another strong showing.

That being said, it won’t be easy with 3rd placed Atletico Mineiro in town, but just like Bahia themselves, Galo are a far more powerful unit on their own patch than away from it. The visitors currently stand just 4 points behind leaders Flamengo, but unless they can address their wretched showings outside of Belo Horizonte, they’re highly unlikely to challenge for the title.

Indeed, Atletico take to the field having lost 3 of their last 4 away league matches, conceding an average of 2.25 goals per game in the process. Thiago Larghi’s troops are also yet to keep a clean sheet as visitors this season, and defensive performances are becoming more concerning with every passing trip, something that doesn’t bode well for this particular one.

Ultimately, although the two parties are at opposite ends of the standings, we really like the look of backing Bahia to win here and that’s exactly where our money is going. They have improved significantly across all fronts in recent weeks and have been a powerful force on their own patch for quite some time.

Bahia have won two home games on the bounce over the last week and have kept clean sheets in 4 of their last 5 outings in front of the home crowd. Considering Bahia’s home strength and Atletico’s lack of resolve as visitors, it’s really not hard to envisage a home win come full time on Tuesday and we fancy it to be by a 2-0 margin.
