Barcelona to Win and Over 1.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Barcelona have won six of their last seven home games with at least two goals in each match while Mallorca have lost six of their last 10 away games with at least two goals in five of the defeats. The Pirates have also lost on their last six trips to Barcelona with over 1.5 goals in five.

Barcelona 2-0

Reason for tip

Frenkie de Jong sat out the 2-2 draw between these sides in La Liga earlier this season and his ability to control the game in the middle of the park will be missed again.  Mallorca have scored in two of their last three trips to Barcelona and three of their last four away games, but not more than once. Barcelona average just over two goals per game at home and can secure a 2-1 win.

Ferran Torres To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

La Liga’s 25-goal top scorer Robert Lewandowski was injured on Saturday and will miss out here, opening the door for Ferran Torres to take a leading role. He registered his 10th La Liga goal of the campaign on Saturday and is scoring at a ratio of one every 94 minutes.

Dramatic Barcelona win papers over defensive cracks

Barcelona should maintain their advantage over the chasing pack when Mallorca visit Estadio Lluis Companys in La Liga on Tuesday night. Hansi Flick’s side pulled out all the stops to produce a memorable comeback from 3-1 down to beat Celta Vigo 4-3 on Saturday.

Raphinha sealed the ‘remontada’ with a stoppage-time penalty, which papered over some of the glaring cracks Celta created in Barca’s defence. Individual mistakes from Wojciech Szczesny and Frenkie de Jong contributed to the Galicians’ first two goals but Barca’s high-defensive line was almost suicidal.

Borja Iglesias had the pace to run away from Flick’s defenders, but Mallorca may not quite have the same ability to exploit Barca’s tactic assuming the German coach deploys it again.

Pirates could be punished by Torres

The Pirates have lost six of their last 10 away games and it is only their form at San Moix that has been keeping them in with a shout of European football next season. Even that has become a little patchy with only one point taken from their last two at home, so they appear there for the taking.

Real Sociedad missed some good chances to get on the scoresheet against Mallorca in their recent 2-0 hoem defeat in which the Basque outfit finished with an xG of 1.5, which Barcelona’s in-form forwards may well punish.

Robert Lewandowski misses out with an injury on Tuesday, but Ferran Torres scored his 10th goal of the campaign on Saturday to remind Barca fans of his abilities. He looks like a good candidate to grab a goal here with Lamine Yamal, who was excellent after coming on against Celta, likely to create danger if he is restored to the starting line-up.
