Shrews’ misery to continue

Barnsley should be backed to beat Shrewsbury at home in League One on Saturday. The relegated visitors are struggling to find the back of the net this season and that could be the key to the game.

The visitors have serious problems up front. No team has failed to score in more League One games this season than Shrewsbury, who have drawn a blank in 20 of their 44 matches.

Shrewsbury could not break their losing run last time, losing 4-1 to Northampton on Monday. The result was no surprise, with Northampton priced at 4/7 to win the game. Shrewsbury had 61.4% possession, more of the ball than in any League One game they’ve played this season, but they are struggling to find the back of the net.

It would be no surprise to see Barnsley score, having found the net in their last eight league games, they have scored at least twice in three of their last four League One games.

With four of Barnsley’s last five League One games producing three or more goals, a high-scoring game looks on the cards. However, with eight of their 16 wins this season coming via a 2-1 scoreline, a narrow home win is the most likely outcome.
