Draw

Reason for tip

Bayern Munich were 3-0 winners in the first leg of this Champions League last-16 tie but a second-half red card from Nordi Mukiele helped them see out the win and this clash at the BayArena could be much closer and the draw looks the best bet.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in three of Bayern Munich’s last four Champions League fixtures and this second leg could follow suit, even if it is expected to be a tighter matchup. With that in mind, 1-1 looks the way to go in terms of a correct score wager.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Bayern Munich Predictions

  • Bayer Leverkusen have lost just two of their last ten games
  • Bayern Munich have lost only one Champions League match this term
  • Both teams have scored in three of Bayern Munich’s last four Champions League fixtures

Leverkusen have a mountain to climb in second leg

Bayer Leverkusen were stunned by Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich in the Champions League last Wednesday, losing 3-0 at the Allianz Arena, and they have a mountain to climb in the second leg of their last-16 tie.

Leverkusen were fully nullified by their Bavarian counterparts last week, managing just one shot on target in the game, and they were not helped by the sending off of Nordi Mukiele after 62 minutes.

And at the weekend they were evidently distracted by this Champions League tie, having sustained a surprise 2-0 defeat at home to Werder Bremen.

Interestingly, though, Bayern Munich also slipped up in the Bundesliga on Saturday, going down 3-2 at home to Bochum, so it is ‘as you were’ in the Bundesliga title race.

Domestic rivals tough to separate at the BayArena

Punters should expect a much closer second leg between these sides but Leverkusen are likely to fall short of what is needed to progress.

Indeed, the draw looks the most likely result this time around with the last meeting between the sides at the BayArena in February finishing 0-0, despite a dominant performance from Leverkusen.

Bayern will likely be happy to sit back at the BayArena on Tuesday and wait for chances on the counter-attack and the draw looks a solid selection.

As for a correct score pick, the goals may not flow between two evenly matched sides and 1-1 could be the way to go.
