Determined Leverkusen should record another win

Their Champions League campaign may have ended with a whimper but Bayer Leverkusen are still in contention for domestic silverware and they can keep the pressure on Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich with a win over Bochum.

Leverkusen, who have a DFB Pokal semi-final with Arminia Bielefeld next Tuesday, are six points adrift of top spot in the Bundesliga with eight games to go.

And Xabi Alonso’s men will be determined to fight until the very end, especially as Bayern were the team to embarrass them in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Expect a high-scoring clash at the BayArena

Last Sunday Leverkusen won a frenetic contest with Stuttgart 4-3 and there could also be goals when they host Bochum.

Leverkusen are without a clean sheet in their last five matches and Bochum have recently shown they are a team with goals in them, winning 3-2 away to Bayern Munich before scoring in a 3-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Alonso’s side have lost just two Bundesliga assignments this season and they will not want to give up their title easily, so they look likely to build on their win over Stuttgart.

But they are vulnerable at the back right now and Bochum can capitalise with a home win and both teams to score the way to go, while 3-1 to Leverkusen appeals as far as a correct score goes.
