Bayern Munich vs Fortuna Dusseldorf Predictions
- Bayern Munich are unbeaten in their last seven Bundesliga home assignments, winning six and drawing the other.
- Fortuna Dusseldorf have kept only one away clean sheet in the German top flight this term.
- Bayern Munich have scored at least three goals in three of their last five matches.
Brilliant Bavarians on brink of title success
Bayern Munich are closing in on an eighth successive Bundesliga title following their win in Der Klassiker last time out and there is unlikely to be any slip-up at home to Fortuna Dusseldorf.
The 1-0 win over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, courtesy of Joshua Kimmich’s chip from outside the box, means Bayern Munich have now won 13 of their last 14 matches in Germany’s top flight.
The only match they failed to win as part of that run was a goalless stalemate at home to highflying RB Leipzig and their resurgence under Hansi Flick has been remarkable.
The brilliant Bavarians have won ten of their 14 home league matches this campaign and have been nothing short of devastating in the final third, netting 23 goals in their last seven Bundesliga games at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern turn it up a gear at the Allianz Arena
While they have been content edging matches on the road – they beat Dortmund 1-0 and Union Berlin 2-0 in their two away games since the Bundesliga restart – they are more explosive when playing in their own backyard.
No Bundesliga team’s home matches are averaging more goals per game than Bayern Munich (four) this term and they have failed to score in only one of their 14 home league matches.
Visitors Fortuna Dusseldorf, on the other hand, are one of the most shot-shy outfits in the division, scoring only 16 goals in their 14 encounters on the road. We predict a difficult evening for the underdogs here.
Lack of final-third quality troubles Fortuna
They have been heavily reliant on the goalscoring exploits of Rouwen Hennings, who has netted 11 Bundesliga goals this term, with only one other player – Erik Thommy – reaching the five-goal mark in all competitions.
They have scored more than once on only two occasions in their last eight matches and have won only two of their 14 away games this season, with only Eintracht Frankfurt (seven) having collected fewer points than Dusseldorf (11) on their travels.
Bayern Munich lead the way in terms of both most goals scored (81) and fewest goals conceded (28) in the Bundesliga this campaign and the division’s champions-elect should scarcely break a sweat against a side they beat 4-0 in November’s reverse fixture.
A win to nil for the Bavarians looks a solid bet and 4-0, a scoreline by which they have beaten Borussia Dortmund and Cologne at the Allianz Arena this season, could be the best bet in terms of a correct score prediction.
