St Pauli +2

Reason for tip

Bayern Munich have stuttered in their last two league matches, picking up just one point from games against Union Berlin and Bochum, and with St Pauli having proved a tough nut to crack all season, including in their narrow 1-0 loss to Bayern in November’s reverse fixture, the visitors could be worth siding with in the handicap market.

Bayern Munich 2-1

Reason for tip

Only one of St Pauli’s 15 league defeats have been by more than two goals, with seven of those losses coming via just a one-goal margin of deficit, including November’s 1-0 home reverse to Bayern.  This is a match Bayern should win, but with that hard-to-beat approach, Saturday’s visitors can keep things competitive and a 2-1 home win appeals as a correct score.

Bayern Munich vs St Pauli Predictions

  • Bayern Munich have failed to win their last two Bundesliga games against struggling Union Berlin and Bochum
  • St Pauli have taken four points from their last two league fixtures
  • The reverse meeting between these two sides ended in a narrow 1-0 win for Bayern

Bayern not at their best

Bayern Munich continue to lead the way in the Bundesliga despite picking up just a solitary point from their two matches before the international break.

An away draw at Union Berlin followed a shock 3-2 home defeat to Bochum in their most recent fixture at the Allianz Arena and they will now face another side currently in the bottom six in St Pauli.

St Pauli can make life difficult for league leaders

St Pauli head into the weekend sitting just a place above the relegation play-off position, but they have boosted their survival hopes after accumulating four points from the last six available.

Survival has always been the aim for Alexander Blessin’s side this season and they have remained a tough nut to crack, with only one of their 15 league defeats coming by more than a two-goal margin.

Seven of those losses have been by just one goal, including a 1-0 home defeat to Bayern in November’s reverse fixture.

A similarly tight match could be on the cards on Saturday and although Bayern’s class may ultimately tell, St Pauli could be worth siding with in the handicap market, with perhaps a narrow 2-1 home win for the Bavarians offering the most correct score appeal.
