Over 2.5 Match Goals

Birmingham 2-1

Reason for tip

A 2-1 win for Birmingham looks the most likely outcome. They have won 17 of their last 19 League One home games and were 2-1 winners against Bristol Rovers last time out, while Barnsley have been on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat seven times in the league this season.

Birmingham vs Barnsley Predictions

Go for goals at St Andrew’s

Back over 2.5 goals when Birmingham host Barnsley at St. Andrew’s on Saturday. Four of the last six of Birmingham’s League One games have produced over 2.5 goals and there should be more excitement in this encounter.

Birmingham are way clear at the top of League One with 27 wins, eight draws and three defeats from their 38 games this season, while Barnsley are 11th in the table having won 15, drawn nine and lost 16.

Birmingham are on a good run, having won their last two League One matches and six of their last eight. In contrast, Barnsley are struggling to find a win, having gone six games without recording a victory.

Birmingham’s 2-1 victory away at Bristol Rovers on Tuesday was their fourth League One game in six with over 2.5 goals. The win means they have won 23 of the 31 matches in which they have been odds-on this season and they would have been relieved after the visitors had their chances to equalise.

Birmingham have scored at least twice in three of their last four League One games and no team has scored more goals this season than their 65. In contrast, Barnsley have scored in four straight league games, but they haven’t got more than a goal in any of them.

A 2-1 win for Birmingham looks the most likely outcome. They have won 17 of their last 19 League One home games and were 2-1 winners against Bristol Rovers last time out, while Barnsley have been on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat seven times in the league this season. It’s also worth noting no team in League One has played more games with three or more goals than Barnsley this season.
