Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Blackburn have gone six games without a clean sheet but they are generally good for a goal at Ewood Park, having scored in five of their last six games at this venue. Both teams have scored in 12 of Boro’s last 15 away games so goals at both ends looks likely.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Boro are the team in the better form but they have lost twice to Blackburn this season, in the league and FA Cup, and their away form hasn’t been particularly impressive – with just six road wins in the Championship this season in 19 attempts. Blackburn have lost their last four but they can stop the rot with a point here and a 1-1 draw has a chance. Rovers are averaging just over a goal per-game in the league and Boro have scored eight goals in total across their last eight away games.

Blackburn Rovers vs Middlesbrough Predictions

  • Blackburn have gone six games without a clean sheet.
  • Both teams have scored in five of Middlesbrough’s last seven away.
  • Rovers have beaten Boro twice this season.

Rovers looking to stop the rot

Blackburn’s play-off hopes have been left hanging in the balance after a run of just one point from their last six games ahead of the visit of promotion rivals Middlesbrough on Friday.

Rovers have dropped down to 11th spot in the Championship table but they are still in with a chance of making the play-offs as they sit five points behind West Brom in sixth. Boro are in decent form with seven points from the last nine available and they are seventh in the table, level with the Baggies on 57 points.

The away side are in the better form but their results on the road this season have generally been poor, with just six wins in 19 trips in the league. This will be the third meeting between these sides this season and Blackburn have won the previous two, but they are in the midst of a slump.

This looks like a game where the spoils could be shared but you could make a case for either side to sneak a win, so the standout option for our main bet is both teams to score.

Blackburn have gone six games without a clean sheet but their struggles have largely come away from Ewood Park. Rovers have only failed to score in one of their last six home league games and have conceded in their last two, while both teams have scored in five of Boro’s last seven away and they have conceded in six of those.

The hosts have lost their last four games but three of those have been away and they can at least halt their losing run with a point. A 1-1 draw is the correct score prediction as Rovers are averaging just over a goal per-game, and Boro have scored exactly one goal in five of their last eight away fixtures and have scored eight goals in total during that period.
