Bologna to Win

Reason for tip

After a slow start to the season, Bologna will head into this game following back-to-back wins in Serie A and they could now register a first Champions League victory against a Monaco side whose own form has dipped over recent weeks.

Bologna 1-0

Reason for tip

Bologna are unbeaten at home this season and have only lost one of their last 25 games at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. However, they do not score many, failing to net more than once in any of their home games this term, although one goal could be enough to decide this game.

Bologna vs Monaco Predictions

  • Bologna have only lost one of their last 25 home matches in all competitions
  • The hosts have failed to score more than once in any home match this season
  • Following a strong start to the season, Monaco have lost back-to-back games

Italians eye maiden Champions League success

Bologna are yet to win or score in this season’s Champions League but they could get off the mark at the fourth attempt when they host a Monaco side that are suffering from a dip in form.

It has been a slow start to the season for Bologna, who defied the odds to finish fifth in Serie A last term but then saw head coach Thiago Motta and several key players depart.

However, the Rossoblu, who have taken just one point from their opening three Champions League games, have shown signs of improvement of late, winning back-to-back league games against Cagliari and Lecce, while they are yet to lose at home in any competition this season.

Monaco faltering ahead of Italian trip

Bologna’s home record is nothing short of remarkable, as since August 2023 they have only lost one of their 25 matches at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara and that sole defeat was a narrow 1-0 reverse against Serie A champions Inter Milan.

If this match had been a couple of weeks ago, then many may have thought that proud home record would be under threat, but visiting Monaco will head into this game on the back of successive defeats to Nice and Angers in Ligue 1.

The latter of those losses against Angers finished 1-0 and a repeat result and scoreline could be on the cards for Les Rouge et Blanc on Tuesday, as Bologna have kept three clean-sheets in their last four on home soil, but they are also yet to score more than once in a match at their own ground this season.
