Draw

Reason for tip

Bologna have drawn four of their five home Serie A matches this season. It is tempting to back another because Venezia’s last five league games have been close – decided by one goal or drawn – and their expected goals for and against suggest they should be much closer to Bologna in the table.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Three of Bologna’s five home league games have finished 1-1 and they could be held to another if there is any Champions League hangover from their midweek 2-1 loss to Lille.

Bologna vs Venezia Predictions

  • Bologna have drawn four of their five home Serie A matches this season
  • Venezia’s last five league games have been close – decided by one goal or drawn
  • Bologna have been leaking goals and could be fatigued after a midweek Champions League loss to Lille

Venezia are better than their results suggest

Bologna could suffer a Champions League hangover and fail to beat Venezia when they take on Serie A’s basement club at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara on Saturday.

I Rossoblu lost 2-1 at home to Lille on Wednesday to slip further out of contention for a knockout round place and Vincenzo Italiani’s side have now lost three of their last four games.

That sort of form could see them struggle against a Venezia side that are better than their lowly league position suggests. Eusebio Di Francesco’s men would be half-way up Serie A based on expected goals scored and conceded, but they have continually missed chances and been punished by their opponents.

Bologna could be held by basement boys

That was true of last week’s 1-0 home defeat to fellow strugglers Lecce, who scored with one of their two shots on target while Venezia could not convert anything from an xG of 2.5.

They were solid enough in their previous away trip too when losing 1-0 to Inter at the San Siro, so there is enough evidence to suggest they can claim a point with a similar display at inconsistent Bologna.

Italiano’s side have drawn four of their five home Serie A matches this season, three of which finished 1-1, and that looks like an obvious starting point for bets on Saturday.
